France Olympic SHOCK: Gold Dreams Dashed?! Cizeron & Fournier-Beaudry Lead!
Current Affairs 10 February 2026

Well, folks, Day 3 of the 2026 Winter Olympics is in the books, and for French fans, it was a bit of a nail-biter. Unfortunately, despite some strong performances, the medal count for France remains stubbornly at zero as of Monday, February 9th. We were all holding our breath, especially with Valentin Foubert's showing in ski jumping, but alas, it wasn't to be this time.

France Olympic SHOCK: Gold Dreams Dashed?! Cizeron...

Foubert, bless his heart, really gave it his all. He came so close to pulling off what would have been a truly incredible upset. I mean, we're talking about a real dark horse here, and for a moment, it felt like he might actually snatch a medal from some of the more seasoned veterans. You could feel the tension in the air, the collective hope of the French contingent. He soared, he landed (mostly!), but ultimately, the scores just weren't quite high enough. Still, a fantastic effort and one that certainly put him on the map.

Of course, it's not all doom and gloom. The games are far from over, and there are still plenty of opportunities for the French team to shine. And let's not forget Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, the ice dancing superstars! Though they haven't competed yet (at least not at the time of writing), they are definitely a strong contender for gold. I've seen them perform live before, and their artistry is just breathtaking. They're a true joy to watch. I think there are chances for Team France on the ice too with Laurence Fournier-Beaudry and Nikolaj Sørensen too!

Speaking of ice dancing, the competition is fierce this year. I’ve been following some of the preliminary rounds, and the level of athleticism and creativity is just astounding. The partnerships, the costumes, the sheer drama of it all… it's captivating. So even if France doesn't bring home the gold in that event, it's definitely going to be a highlight of the games to witness such incredible talent on display. They are definitely ones to watch.

So, while the medal drought continues for now, let's not lose hope. The French team has talent, grit, and a whole lot of national pride. There are many more events to come, and I, for one, will be cheering them on every step of the way. Let's see if they can break the ice (pun intended!) in the coming days. Keep your eyes peeled, folks, because anything can happen at the Olympics!
