Obsidian's Next Move REVEALED! Will It Change EVERYTHING?!
Gaming News 08 February 2026

Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind beloved RPGs like *Fallout: New Vegas* and *Pillars of Eternity*, finds itself at a bit of a crossroads. Recent releases, *Avowed* and *Outer Worlds 2*, while not outright failures, haven't exactly set the world on fire. Let's be honest, they underperformed against expectations. And, perhaps more concerningly for some, the rumor mill has officially ground to a halt regarding *Outer Worlds 3*. So, what *should* Obsidian tackle next?

Obsidian's Next Move REVEALED! Will It Change EVER...

It's a question that's been buzzing around online forums and gaming communities for weeks. While the team at Obsidian clearly has the talent and passion, finding the *right* project is crucial. They need something that resonates with their core strengths and also captivates a wider audience. Something...special. And it seems many fans have a very specific idea of what that "something" is.

Okay, let's address the elephant in the room: *Fallout: New Vegas 2*. I know, I know. It's been a pipe dream for years. But the clamoring for a sequel (or even a spiritual successor) to their critically acclaimed *Fallout* entry is deafening. Even now, over a decade after its release, *New Vegas* remains a benchmark for RPG storytelling, player choice, and world-building. The modding community *alone* has kept that game alive and thriving, and I think that says a lot.

And honestly, it makes sense. Bethesda has their own vision for the *Fallout* franchise, and while *Fallout 4* and *76* certainly have their fans, they arguably lack the depth and moral ambiguity that made *New Vegas* so compelling. Giving Obsidian another crack at the wasteland could inject the franchise with fresh energy and a return to its RPG roots. Think about it - new factions, a completely new region to explore, and the kind of complex narratives that Obsidian excels at crafting. The possibilities are genuinely exciting!

Of course, there's always the possibility of a completely original IP. Obsidian has shown they are capable of creating memorable worlds and characters from scratch, as seen with *Pillars of Eternity* and the *Outer Worlds*. But hitting that "lightning in a bottle" feeling can be difficult. Perhaps a return to established territory, but with their unique spin, is the safer, and ultimately more satisfying, bet. Whether Bethesda would ever agree is another matter entirely, but you can't blame a fan for dreaming, right?
