Okay, folks, settle in because we have some news for all you "Pluribus" fans out there. Remember that mind-bending, darkly comedic Apple TV+ series that seemingly everyone was talking about? The one where the world gets infected with a virus that makes everyone excessively happy? Yeah, that one. Well, creator Vince Gilligan has finally given us a little update on Season 2, and it's a mixed bag.
'Pluribus' Season 2 SECRETS! Gilligan's Shocking P...
Gilligan, the mastermind behind "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" (so you know he's got the chops), made it clear that we shouldn't expect a rapid-fire turnaround like some other shows. He was quoted saying, "It ain't gonna be 'The Pitt' coming back every year." For those unfamiliar, "The Pitt" was a short-lived medical drama known for its quick production cycle. In other words, Gilligan's aiming for quality over quantity here, which, frankly, is what we'd expect from him. This isn't some cheesy network procedural; it's a meticulously crafted sci-fi thriller-comedy, and those things take time.
The good news is that the writers are, in Gilligan's words, "plugging away" on Season 2. This is definitely reassuring, especially considering Gilligan also mentioned that the core concept for "Pluribus" had been brewing in his mind for a decade before it ever hit our screens. That's a lot of thought and planning, and it suggests that Season 2 won't just be some hastily thrown-together sequel. The show already had an early Season 2 commitment *before* its blockbuster premiere, so Apple clearly has faith in Gilligan's vision.
Of course, with a premise as wild as "Pluribus" (a world where happiness is a literal disease!), you need a strong central character to ground the story. Enter Carol Sturka, the cantankerous romantasy author who finds herself reluctantly tasked with saving the world from its enforced glee. The show hinges on Rhea Seehorn, who knocks it out of the park! The tension between her cynicism and the overwhelming positivity of the world around her is brilliant, and I, for one, am eager to see where her character goes next. But honestly, if it takes him (and the team) the time necessary to make it something truly special, so be it! We’ve waited for good television before, and we’ll wait again.
So, while there's no release date in sight just yet, at least we know the "Pluribus" team is hard at work. Maybe we can all use this time to rewatch Season 1 and try to decipher all those hidden clues and Easter eggs. And maybe, just maybe, we can all try to be a little less *overabundantly* happy in the meantime. You know, just to be ready for whatever Gilligan throws at us next. I, for one, am ready for more.
