Leeds United's 3-1 demolition of Nottingham Forest on Friday night wasn't just a win; it was a statement. A statement that said: "We're not going down without a fight." And honestly, after watching them earlier in the season, I wasn't so sure. The atmosphere at Elland Road must have been electric.

That victory, spearheaded by Bogle, Okafor, and Calvert-Lewin, has significantly eased the pressure on Leeds and manager Daniel Farke. Farke himself had set the target of four more wins to guarantee survival, and this was the first, vital step. Nine points clear of the relegation zone – a cushion that would have been enough to stay up in each of the last two seasons, says it all.

"It was a game with a bit more on the line," Farke admitted post-match, which is putting it mildly! "To deliver in this way with such a spirited performance, it's sometimes more perfect than an easy 4-0 or 5-0. It was a massive performance." He’s right, a gritty win like that, in a relegation battle, is worth more than just three points. It builds character and belief.

But while Leeds fans are understandably buoyant, the mood will be very different in Nottingham. Forest are now firmly in the relegation mix, and the historical precedent isn't exactly on their side. Teams with 29 points after 25 games have often flirted with, or succumbed to, the drop. Sunderland, Ipswich, Birmingham... they all learned that lesson the hard way.

Of course, history isn't destiny. Forest can take heart from Leicester's survival attempt last season. Ultimately, Leeds likely need another three wins from their remaining 13 games to reach that magic number, somewhere around 38 points, traditionally needed for survival.

Farke deserves immense credit. Remember those murmurings about his job security earlier this season? He’s completely turned things around, especially since that tactical switch against Manchester City. The 3-5-2 formation seems to have unlocked something within the team. They’ve only lost two of their last 12 games since then, picking up 18 valuable points. Remarkable.

Former Leeds midfielder Stuart Dallas put it perfectly on Sky Sports: "They've been on a great run since that Manchester City game way before Christmas. They had the change of shape, the change of formation, and they've put a really good run together... Psychologically, it is huge for them."

Forest, meanwhile, are going the other way, just two wins in their last nine. Injuries haven't helped, particularly the loss of goalkeeper Matz Sels. Replacing him with John Victor hasn't worked out, and now Victor's injured too. They have had to bring in Stefan Ortega from Manchester City. It’s a tough situation for the manager, and the pressure is definitely mounting. Is Sean Dyche on the hot seat? Only time will tell, but results need to improve quickly.
