Andy Cohen, the reigning king of Reality TV and executive producer of the "Real Housewives" empire, is weighing in on a new venture for some familiar faces. And it sounds like he's giving it his blessing. E! is gearing up to launch "The Golden Life," a reality series featuring several beloved (and sometimes notorious) former stars of "The Real Housewives of New York City." Cohen, ever the gracious businessman, shared his thoughts on his SiriusXM radio program, and his comments were surprisingly supportive.
RHONY Reunion on E!? Andy Cohen's SHOCKING Reactio...
“I’m so excited for them. I texted the ladies yesterday. I think it’s gonna be a great show,” Cohen said on Radio Andy. “I could never root against these women. I absolutely love them. I love them together. So does America. I’m gonna speak for America, and I think it’s gonna be great, and I can’t wait to watch, and I’m happy for them.” It’s a nice sentiment, especially considering the show will air on E!, a network that, after a recent reshuffling, is no longer under the same NBCUniversal umbrella as Bravo, where the "Housewives" franchise lives.
The cast of "The Golden Life" is a who's-who of classic "RHONY" drama: Luann de Lesseps, Jill Zarin, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon, and Sonja Morgan are all expected to be part of the fun. Production is set to begin this spring in sunny Palm Beach, Florida, which, let's be honest, seems like the perfect backdrop for these personalities to clash and (hopefully) bond. I mean, can you even imagine the outfits? The drama? The sheer entertainment value? I'm already reaching for the popcorn.
It's interesting to see these ladies land on E!, especially considering Bravo’s recent decisions regarding the "RHONY" franchise. While Bravo rebooted the main show with a new cast, they also gave us "The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy" on Peacock, essentially a farewell tour for the original favorites. De Lesseps will also be appearing in a 20th-anniversary "Real Housewives" special on Bravo. But for Ramona Singer, this new E! show might be a much-needed comeback opportunity.
Singer's been largely absent from Bravo's programming since her appearance on "RHONY Legacy." After she reportedly used a racial slur, the network distanced itself from her. She was even pulled from BravoCon in 2023. So, "The Golden Life" could be a chance for her to re-enter the public's good graces, or at least remind everyone why they loved (or loved to hate) her in the first place. Regardless, Cohen concluded his remarks with well wishes: “I wish them well, and I’m happy for the fans who wanted to see this, and I’m happy for them.” And honestly, who are we to disagree? Bring on the Golden years!
