Looks like the demonic forces are on the move again! Singapore-based Mokster Films is gearing up to unleash some serious cinematic scares at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin. They've snagged the international rights to *Dominion of Darkness 2*, the sequel to the Indonesian horror hit that had Indonesian audiences screaming (and presumably praying) back in 2024.
Darkness Returns! Exorcism Sequel Shocks Berlin Fi...
Now, the original *Dominion of Darkness* was a bit of a phenomenon. It’s a faith-based exorcism thriller, which is already intriguing. But the kicker? It focuses on *Christian* exorcism in Indonesia, a country where the majority of the population is Muslim. Most Indonesian horror films tend to draw on Islamic traditions, so this was a really fresh angle. Apparently, it resonated big time, pulling in over 1.47 million viewers in just under three weeks. That's enough to make any distributor sit up and take notice.
Paragon Pictures and Ideosource Entertainment are back producing, and Rizal Mantovani (the guy behind *The Chanting* trilogy, so he knows his way around a good scare) is directing. From what I'm hearing, this sequel isn't just a rehash. They're promising to expand the mythology, crank up the tension, and dive deeper into the theological side of things. Think higher stakes and even *more* supernatural terror, all geared towards a global audience. Robert Ronny is back writing and producing as well, which suggests they're keeping the core team intact – always a good sign.
The plot? Well, the Church has apparently decided to leave our exorcist heroes hanging, leaving them to face a particularly nasty demonic force on their own. Their faith is pushed to the absolute limit, and if they fail, the world might just go to hell (literally, I suppose). Classic horror movie stakes, but with that unique Indonesian twist. It's slated for release in October 2026, so we have a bit of a wait, but it sounds like it could be worth it.
Mokster Films, under the leadership of Nelson Mok (a former WME Independent exec), is clearly making some smart moves in the horror space. Beyond *Dominion of Darkness 2*, they're also handling international sales for *The Damp*, a Taiwanese supernatural horror film. And Mok himself is producing *Phantom*, a horror film from Lester Hsi, and *Red Thread*, a supernatural horror from Vietnamese filmmaker Ham Tran. Looks like Mokster Films is set to be a major player in the Asian horror scene, bringing terrifying tales from the East to a global audience. Prepare to sleep with the lights on!
