Konyaspor Manager SHOCK Exit! What's NEXT for the Team?!
Sports 06 February 2026

Well, well, well, it seems like familiarity is back in fashion in the Turkish Süper Lig. Tümosan Konyaspor, currently battling it out near the relegation zone, have just announced the return of İlhan Palut as their manager. Remember him? He was at the helm not so long ago.

Konyaspor Manager SHOCK Exit! What's NEXT for the ...

The club, currently sitting 14th with a precarious 19 points, clearly felt a shake-up was needed. And who do you call when you need a reliable hand? Apparently, someone you've already worked with. According to the official statement, President Ömer Atiker and the board reached an "agreement in principle" with Palut after a round of discussions. This suggests it wasn't exactly a slam dunk, but hey, sometimes the best solutions are the ones you've already considered.

Palut's previous stint with Konyaspor, between 2021 and 2023, was actually quite respectable. He managed to rack up an average of 1.64 points per game over 81 matches. That's not exactly title-winning form, but it's certainly a solid foundation to build on. I recall watching some of their matches back then, and there was a clear sense of organization and tactical awareness – something that seems to be lacking a bit this season, if you ask me.

The question now is, can Palut recapture that magic? Can he inject some much-needed stability and, more importantly, points into this Konyaspor side? The Süper Lig is a notoriously volatile league, and a few wins can drastically change a team's fortunes. Conversely, a string of losses can send you spiraling downwards. The pressure will be on Palut from day one to prove that this reappointment was the right move. I mean, bringing back a former manager can be a gamble – sometimes it’s a masterstroke, other times it’s just a desperate attempt to reignite a spark. We'll just have to wait and see which scenario plays out this time.

It will be interesting to see what changes Palut implements, both in terms of tactics and personnel. Does he have the same level of influence he previously enjoyed? Does he have the players he needs to execute his vision? And perhaps most importantly, can he rally the troops and instill a sense of belief within the squad? The fans, I'm sure, will be watching closely, hoping that this familiar face can guide them to safer waters. Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure: the Süper Lig just got a whole lot more interesting.
