Borusan Next is making a serious play for dominance in Turkey's booming used car market. The automotive group just opened its 13th showroom, this time in Avcılar, Istanbul, signaling a continued commitment to growth. The company's ambitions are clear: capture a whopping 80% of the market share by 2026. That's a pretty bold goal, but given the current climate, it might just be achievable.
Borusan Next Expands! New Showroom Opens - What Do...
The timing couldn't be better. Used car sales in Turkey are reportedly breaking records, and Borusan Next is keen to ride that wave. Parent company Borusan Otomotiv clearly sees a long-term opportunity here, betting big on a multi-brand, technology-driven strategy to solidify its position in the used car landscape.
For those unfamiliar, Borusan Next is the used car and motorcycle arm of Borusan Otomotiv, a major player in Turkey's premium automotive retail sector. This new Istanbul location brings their total showroom count to 13 across the country. What's interesting is their focus on not just selling cars, but creating a whole service ecosystem around them.
Borusan Otomotiv CEO Hakan Tiftik, speaking at the Avcılar branch opening, emphasized the company's intention to bring its decades-long reputation for trust and premium service to the often-murky waters of the used car market. He highlighted a desire to provide the kind of corporate reassurance that used car buyers have historically craved, offering a transparent and comprehensive service model.
Their strategy is multifaceted. Beyond the physical expansion, Borusan Next is leaning heavily into digital channels. The recent acquisition of Carvak, a digital used car platform, is a crucial piece of this puzzle. The goal is to blend Carvak's tech prowess with Borusan Next's commitment to reliability and transparency, creating a seamless customer experience.
Tiftik also pointed out just how massive the Turkish used car market is, estimating it to be among the top three largest in Europe. Think about that for a second. "For every new car sold in Turkey, over seven Used cars are sold," he stated. That’s a lot of used cars! It really puts the scale of this opportunity into perspective. Plus, it's nice to see them continuing their support of sports, sponsoring the Basketball Super League, showing they're committed to the community as well.
According to İlker Baydar, General Manager of Borusan Otomotiv's Used Car Platform, Borusan Next has already facilitated the sale of over 50,000 Used cars. That's no small feat. With this new showroom and their digital strategy, it will be interesting to see if they can reach their ambitious goal of 80% market share. The next few years will definitely be ones to watch in the Turkish used car market.
