Oblivion on Switch 2?! Is This Our First Look?! Elder Scrolls Fans Stunned!
Gaming News 05 February 2026

Well, folks, if you blinked, you might have missed it! Nintendo just wrapped up their Direct presentation, and let me tell you, it was a doozy. We got a whole heap of release dates, and Bethesda was clearly keen to play ball with the Big N. While *Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition* and *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle* were certainly eye-catching, the real kicker came right at the end.

Oblivion on Switch 2?! Is This Our First Look?! El...

Hold onto your hats, because *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* is officially coming to... the Switch 2! Yes, you read that right. Cyrodiil is heading to Nintendo. Now, I remember sinking countless hours into Oblivion back in the day. The mudcrabs! The Daedra! The sheer absurdity of the adoring fan! This is huge news for Nintendo fans, and honestly, for anyone who appreciates a truly epic RPG.

But this isn't just a simple port, mind you. This is a "remaster," and judging from what we've heard, that’s putting it mildly. We're talking a ground-up remake built in Unreal Engine 5. Think about that for a second. The 2006 classic, reborn with modern visuals and performance. Gone will hopefully be some of the more... janky aspects of the original (looking at you, potato faces). We're expecting a completely reworked user interface, which is something the original desperately needed, enhanced hit detection (hallelujah!), and improved visual effects that will hopefully do justice to the already breathtaking (for its time) landscapes of Cyrodiil. Imagine exploring the Imperial City with that kind of fidelity on a handheld!

And it gets better! This remastered edition will include the *Knights of the Nine* and *Shivering Isles* expansions. Seriously, the Shivering Isles is some of the most creative and bizarre DLC ever made, and having it bundled in is a huge win. Between Dementia and Mania, there is hours of additional gameplay and story. That alone is almost worth the price of admission. I spent countless hours exploring the Isles and am excited to return. This is a complete package, ready for a new generation of adventurers.

So, when can we expect to dive back into Cyrodiil on the Switch 2? The current estimate is later this year. Of course, "later this year" can mean anything from September to December in the gaming world, so we'll keep you posted as we get more concrete information. But one thing is for sure: *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* is shaping up to be a must-have title for the Switch 2, and a fantastic way for new and old players alike to experience a true RPG masterpiece. Get ready to close those Oblivion Gates!
