US House Bombshell: Did the EU STEAL the Romanian Election?!
Current Affairs 04 February 2026

Hold on to your hats, folks, because a new report from the US House of Representatives is dropping bombshell accusations against the European Commission. It's alleging that Brussels actively meddled in the 2024 Romanian presidential election, ultimately leading to the annulment of the initial results. This is the kind of story that makes you question everything.

US House Bombshell: Did the EU STEAL the Romanian ...

The core of the accusation? That the entire premise for overturning the election – purported Russian interference – was a fabrication. According to the House report, the European Commission leaned on these unsubstantiated claims to effectively strong-arm the Romanian Constitutional Court. They had initially nullified the first round of the election after Romanian intelligence services claimed that anti-establishment candidate Calin Georgescu's surprising lead was the product of Kremlin shenanigans.

Now, the House Judiciary Committee report, released earlier this week, pulls no punches. It labels this whole affair as one of the "most aggressive censorship steps" taken by the EU executive in recent memory. It specifically points to internal TikTok documents submitted to the European Commission. These documents, supposedly, directly contradicted the narrative of a Russian-backed pro-Georgescu campaign flourishing on the platform. TikTok itself apparently found zero evidence to support these accusations, despite them being the very foundation of the court's decision.

The report gets even more damning, if you can believe it. By the end of 2024, media outlets, citing Romanian tax authority data, reportedly uncovered that the supposed Russian interference campaign was actually funded by a different Romanian political party! Talk about a twist. But here's the kicker: even with this revelation, the original election results were never reinstated. The election was rescheduled and, surprise surprise, in May 2025, the establishment candidate conveniently secured the presidency.

Of course, this is just one side of the story. I'm eager to see what the full details emerging from RT's coverage of the committee hearing will be. The story is developing, and we'll be keeping a close eye on it.
