Okay, folks, let me tell you, I just got back from a Nintendo Switch 2 preview event, and my thumbs are still buzzing. Nintendo's been tight-lipped, but they let us get our hands on some *very* interesting things. I'm still trying to process it all, honestly.
Switch 2 LEAKED?! Resident Evil Requiem Shocks Fan...
First up, *Resident Evil Requiem*. This isn't your typical Switch port. This felt…different. The graphics were noticeably sharper, textures were richer, and the frame rate, while not locked at a buttery-smooth 60fps, was significantly improved compared to *Resident Evil Revelations* on the current Switch. It felt closer to the PS4/Xbox One versions, which is a *huge* leap. The eerie atmosphere of the Spencer Mansion was truly palpable. Colors really popped, creating an immersive experience. Suffice to say, I was really impressed.
Then there was *Pragmata*. Remember that visually stunning, but perpetually delayed, Capcom title? Well, it was running on the Switch 2. And, surprisingly, it looked pretty damn good. Now, it wasn't *exactly* the same as the trailers we've seen, but it was a very respectable showing. There were some compromises, sure, but they maintained the core visual style and the bizarre, captivating world they're building. I'm genuinely curious to see how this one shapes up closer to launch.
Now, things got…weird. They had a *Virtual Boy* demo. Yes, you read that right. The legendary red-and-black monstrosity was resurrected. But, thankfully, not literally. This was running through some kind of updated virtual reality headset (presumably powered by the Switch 2), emulating the original Virtual Boy experience. The novelty wore off quickly, trust me. Headaches came on in minutes! It's more of a historical artifact at this point, showcasing the evolution of Nintendo's experimental phase.
Beyond the VR experience, we also got to play some *Mario* titles. *Mario Tennis Fever* looked just like a vibrant arcade sports game. *Super Mario Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 Edition* was basically the same game, but running noticeably smoother and with slightly enhanced visuals. Nothing groundbreaking there, but it looked like it would offer a good experience for newcomers and veteran players alike.
One of the oddest things there was a "Meetup in Bellabel Park," which, as far as I could tell, was just Nintendo testing out some location-based social features. We were encouraged to interact with other attendees at a virtual park within the demo. Also, the talking flower from *Super Mario Wonder* was there. Or, rather, a physical prop of it. It was...creepy. Especially when it started spouting random bits of marketing jargon. I'm not sure if it's an indication of things to come, but it certainly left an impression. Overall, the Switch 2 is shaping up to be a decent improvement, and it's exciting to see Nintendo experimenting with new ideas (even if some of those ideas are...questionable). The future looks interesting, folks.
