Magic: The Gathering players, brace yourselves! 2026 is shaping up to be an absolute behemoth of a year for the game, particularly if you're a fan of the Universes Beyond series. And trust me, you're going to want to hear about this one: Marvel Super Heroes are crashing the party, and they're bringing four brand-new Commander decks with them.

From the stealth and power of Black Panther to the nefarious schemes of Doctor Doom, the upcoming set promises to bring some serious comic book flavor to our Commander tables. Specific details are still emerging, but the early buzz is all about how well Wizards of the Coast is capturing the essence of these iconic characters and locations. We’re talking full immersion into the Marvel Universe – and in a format as accessible as Commander, that's a recipe for some seriously fun gameplay.

Now, I have to admit, I was a little surprised that the 2025 Spider-Man set didn't get the Commander deck treatment. Commander is, after all, Magic's most popular format. Was this an intentional course correction, or was it always part of the plan to unleash the full Marvel might in 2026? Either way, the sheer volume of Commander offerings this year is impressive.

And for those who like a little extra bling, these Marvel Super Heroes Commander Decks are also coming in a yellow, foil version. Yep, you get all the same cards, just shimmering and shiny. Not gonna lie, the foil versions are definitely tempting.

Last year saw a bit of a drought in Commander precons, with the last two appearing way back in August with the Edge of Eternities set. Spider-Man and Avatar: The Last Airbender gave us none. But it looks like Wizards is back with a vengeance! We’ve got two decks in Lorwyn Eclipsed, one for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, five for Secrets of Strixhaven, and now these four Marvel decks. That's a whopping 12 already, and we're only halfway through the year!

To put that in perspective, there were only 13 Commander precons released throughout all of 2025. So, if you've been on the fence about jumping into Commander, 2026 is definitely shaping up to be the perfect year to dive in. The variety and accessibility is unprecedented.
