Okay, Stranger Things fans, hold onto your Eggos! While we're all impatiently waiting for the final season, Netflix has thrown us a curveball – and it's not the kind that'll send you to the Upside Down. Instead of the live-action spinoff everyone’s been speculating about, we’re getting something...different. Prepare yourselves for *Stranger Things: Tales From '85*, an animated series that's promising a fresh dose of Hawkins horror, but with a decidedly lighter, more nostalgic feel.
Stranger Things '85 Book: Shocking Canon Twist Rev...
Yes, you read that right: animated. It's a bit of a departure, I know. But hear me out. With Eric Robles (best known for *Fanboy & Chum Chum*, oddly enough) at the helm and the Duffer Brothers themselves executive producing, this isn't just some cheap cash-in. It's a fully-fledged expansion of the Stranger Things universe. The story drops us right into the snowy winter of '85, nestled between the end of Season 2 and the neon-drenched madness of Season 3. The gate's closed, things are (relatively) quiet, and our favorite kids are trying to just... be kids. But you know Hawkins, right? Peace never lasts long.
So, what's the threat this time? That's the million-dollar question. Netflix is being tight-lipped, but they're promising a new terror lurking beneath the (literal and figurative) surface. Is it a lingering echo of the Upside Down? Something nasty brewing in the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or something entirely new and even more terrifying? Whatever it is, our intrepid heroes will have to band together to unravel the mystery and save Hawkins...again. Honestly, you'd think people would just move at this point.
One of the most interesting things about *Tales From '85* is where it fits into the established canon. It’s a true bridge, filling in the gaps between seasons. We've got Eleven and Mike all loved up, Max and Lucas navigating the rollercoaster of first love, and Nancy and Jonathan still being the most adorable awkward couple on television. It’s a chance to see these characters in a slightly different light, perhaps even explore some of the storylines that got glossed over in the main series. And with a whole new voice cast, including Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington (a perfect choice, in my opinion), it's going to be interesting to see how these iconic characters are reinterpreted.
Look, I know an animated spinoff might not be what everyone was expecting. But *Stranger Things* has always been about taking risks and surprising us. And if anyone can pull off a horror-tinged, '80s-inspired animated adventure, it's the Duffer Brothers and their team. I'm cautiously optimistic, and honestly, I'm just happy to have more Stranger Things in my life, even if it’s in a slightly different form. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some '80s cartoons to rewatch for research purposes. And maybe a box of Eggos to devour.
