Okay, horror fans, brace yourselves. Paramount just dropped a *massive* Super Bowl ad for "Scream 7," and it's got everyone buzzing. As someone who's been following this franchise since I was probably way too young to be watching it, I can tell you, this looks like a serious return to form.
'Scream 7' Super Bowl Ad SHOCKS Fans! Early IMAX S...
The spot, which aired during the game on Monday (because of *course* it did), gives us a chilling peek at the latest Ghostface shenanigans, set to terrorize theaters nationwide on February 27th. But here's the real kicker: Paramount is going all-out to make the opening night an *event*.
Get this: for the first time in "Scream" history, they're doing exclusive fan screenings on February 26th, starting at 6 p.m. And not just any screenings – we're talking IMAX. Imagine Ghostface looming larger than life. Seriously, I might need to invest in some adult diapers. But it doesn't stop there. The special event screenings will extend to Dolby Cinema, 4DX, ScreenX, MX4D, and Cinemark XD and other premium large-screen formats, in participating locations. That's a *lot* of ways to get your scream on.
But the biggest news, arguably, is the return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. Honestly, the franchise just wasn't the same without her. The plot, as far as we can gather, sees Sidney finally trying to live a normal life, having sought refuge in what *seems* like a peaceful town. Of course, that peace is shattered when a new Ghostface emerges, this time targeting her daughter (played by Isabel May). This is where things get *personal*.
"Hello Sydney," that oh-so-familiar, menacing voice whispers in the ad. "I’m gonna make everyone you love suffer — while you watch." Goosebumps. Just goosebumps. The 60-second spot is classic "Scream," full of tension, jump scares, and that signature meta-horror humor.
And the cast is stacked! We're talking Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Anna Camp, David Arquette (a franchise staple, obviously), Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Mckenna Grace, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Mark Consuelos, and Tim Simons. Plus, rumors are swirling about appearances from Matthew Lillard, Joel McHale, and, of course, Courteney Cox. Talk about a reunion!
The real treat for long-time fans is that Kevin Williamson, the original "Scream" scribe, is taking the directorial reins this time around. He co-wrote the screenplay with Guy Busick, working from a story by James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick, based on, of course, the characters he created. With Williamson back in charge, I’m genuinely optimistic that "Scream 7" will recapture the magic of the original. February 26th can't come soon enough. I'm already planning my outfit.
