WWE 2K26: CM Punk's Shocking Return! What Will Happen Next?!
Gaming News 30 January 2026

Well folks, buckle up wrestling fans! The smack talk can officially begin because WWE 2K26 is coming, and it's looking like a contender for the championship belt of wrestling games. 2K has just announced the next installment in their long-running franchise, and it's scheduled to body slam its way onto consoles and PCs on March 13, 2026. But if you're the impatient type, you can get your hands on premium editions a week early, starting March 6.

WWE 2K26: CM Punk's Shocking Return! What Will Hap...

The big news, of course, is who's gracing the cover. This year, it's none other than the "Best in the World" himself, CM Punk! This marks Punk's triumphant return to the forefront of WWE gaming, his last cover appearance being all the way back in WWE '13. Nostalgia points awarded, 2K! From what I’m hearing, and based on the press conference reported by GameSpot, they’re really leaning into making this a standout title.

And speaking of Punk, it sounds like his inclusion isn't just a pretty face on the box. He's headlining this year's 2K Showcase mode, titled "Punked: CM Punk's Personal Journey." Now, I’m genuinely curious to see how they’re going to handle his career in the game. Will we see his independent wrestling days? His controversial departure from WWE the first time around? Or will it focus on his current run? Either way, it's going to be interesting.

Beyond CM Punk, 2K is promising some serious upgrades across the board. We're talking new match types – the specifics of which are still under wraps, but I'm hoping for some more outlandish and creative options – sweeping improvements to every mode, and what they're calling the "largest roster in series history." That's a bold claim, and as someone who's spent countless hours creating custom wrestlers in these games, I'm eager to see how deep the character creation tools go this time around. It really does make or break replayability for me.

The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Oh, and get this: it's also launching on Nintendo Switch 2. Which is... interesting. Obviously, it means Nintendo is finally launching their next generation console, but a wrestling game with presumably very high fidelity graphics seems like a stretch. It makes me wonder what concessions they will be making in the graphics department. Color me cautiously optimistic. WWE 2K26 has a lot to live up to, but with CM Punk at the helm and promises of massive upgrades, it's definitely one to watch. The countdown has begun!
