Okay, folks, you won't believe this one. Nick Frost, you know, the guy from "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz," has spilled the beans on how he snagged the role of Hagrid in the upcoming HBO "Harry Potter" series. And let me tell you, it's a bit…unconventional.
Harry Potter Star's WILD Hagrid Dream: Did it Actu...
For those living under a rock, Frost is stepping into some pretty big shoes, succeeding the late, great Robbie Coltrane as the gentle giant of Hogwarts. This HBO series is a massive undertaking, aiming to adapt all seven books over the next decade. The pressure's on, and Frost's got it – literally manifested, apparently.
In an interview that's making the rounds, Frost admitted to a rather, shall we say, *dedicated* approach to landing the part. He's a big fan, apparently, with his family doing an annual "Harry Potter" marathon during the Christmas holidays. I can relate – my family argues over which movie is the best every year! But Frost took things a step further.
"I've seen all the films," Frost said. "We go through them all as a family during Christmas every year. We start on December 20 and finish a week and a half later." That's dedication! Then he added, "Before I was cast as Hagrid, my partner suggested trying to manifest it. So last Christmas, I watched all the films back to back on the Sky Harry Potter channel, while writing out the word 'Hagrid' 7,000 times." SEVEN THOUSAND. I'm not even sure I've written my own name that many times in my entire life.
Talk about commitment! It seems like his… persistence paid off. The casting announcement came around April of 2025, lining up with the start of filming. We've even seen some sneaky shots of Frost on set in London with Dominic McLaughlin, who's playing young Harry. It's happening, people!
Apparently, filming's been underway for a while now, and eagle-eyed fans have spotted scenes that weren't in the books or films. Intriguing, right? And the cherry on top? Word is that Hans Zimmer, the musical genius behind scores for "Interstellar" and "The Dark Knight," is composing the series' soundtrack. This is shaping up to be something special.
So, mark your calendars, Potterheads. The series, starring Nick Frost's 7,000-times-manifested Hagrid, is slated to premiere in 2027. Whether you're a believer in manifestation or not, you have to admit, Frost's dedication is pretty impressive. I guess we'll see if all that writing pays off when the show finally airs. I, for one, am cautiously optimistic.
