MTG Meets Marvel: The Crossover NO ONE Saw Coming! Pre-Order NOW!
Tech Product Reviews 27 January 2026

Alright, Marvel and Magic fans, brace yourselves! The moment you've been waiting for (or maybe dreading, depending on your wallet) is finally here. Wizards of the Coast has officially opened preorders for the *Marvel Super Heroes* Universes Beyond set for *Magic: The Gathering*. That's right, the MCU is crashing the *Magic* party in a big way, and based on what I'm seeing, it's going to be a wild ride.

MTG Meets Marvel: The Crossover NO ONE Saw Coming!...

We’ve had little tastes of Marvel in *Magic* before, mostly through those awesome (and often expensive) Secret Lair drops and the fun *Spider-Man* set. But this? This is a full-blown immersion. Forget dipping your toes in the superhero pool; we're talking cannonballing in! Wizards is going all-in with a dizzying array of sealed products. I’ve been digging through the details, and there’s something for everyone, from the hardcore tournament grinder to the casual kitchen-table player… and of course, the completist collector who feels obligated to buy it *all* (I may or may not be raising my hand here).

The core of the set comes in the form of Play Boosters. Think regular *Magic* boosters, perfect for cracking open, building decks, or drafting with friends. But where things get really interesting is with the Commander decks. Commander, if you don't know, is a wildly popular format where you build decks around a legendary creature, and these new pre-constructed decks feature iconic Marvel heroes and villains. We're talking Captain America leading the charge, maybe Doctor Doom orchestrating some nefarious scheme… the possibilities are endless. You can grab them individually, or snag the whole bundle. And for those feeling extra fancy (and solvent!), there are Collector's Edition decks with some truly blinged-out Surge Foil alternate art cards. Prepare to be blinded by the shiny!

Now, if you're looking for something a little less intimidating than Commander, the Jumpstart boxes might be your speed. These are designed to be super accessible, almost like a modern take on the old Core Sets. They’re Standard legal, which is great, and each box is essentially a miniature Play Booster Box, packed with nine boosters, a foil promo card, a life counter, and even basic lands. Perfect for teaching someone the game, or just building a quick, fun deck to play.

We've also got Gift Bundles, which are pretty standard fare – a Collector Booster, some boosters, and cool packaging with retro comic art. Details are still a bit scarce on the specifics, but you can expect some extra goodies to make it worth the price. And for the true collector, there are Scene Boxes – each containing six alternate art cards that combine to form a larger scene. These come with a display case, so you can proudly showcase your Marvel (and Magic) fandom. Finally, there are Draft Boxes, specifically designed for Pick-Two Draft – a streamlined drafting method where you grab two cards at a time. This speeds things up and makes drafting a bit more interesting, especially for smaller groups.

Overall, this *Marvel Super Heroes* Universes Beyond set looks like a huge swing for Wizards of the Coast. Whether it’s a home run or a foul ball remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: it’s going to shake up the *Magic* landscape for a while. So, start saving your pennies, folks. Your inner superhero (and your inner *Magic* player) will thank you… eventually.
