Abraham SHOCK Transfer Twist: Villa Set to Pounce?!

Abraham SHOCK Transfer Twist: Villa Set to Pounce?!
Sports 26 January 2026

Alright, brace yourselves Villa fans, because this one is a bit of a rollercoaster. It looks like Tammy Abraham, a name that still brings a smile to many faces around Villa Park, is inching closer to a return. But, as is often the case in the murky world of football transfers, the path is far from straightforward.

Abraham SHOCK Transfer Twist: Villa Set to Pounce?...

The latest twist? Besiktas, seemingly out of nowhere, have just finalized the £11.2 million acquisition of Abraham from Roma. Now, hold on a second – why Besiktas? Well, according to reports, they were obligated to buy him as part of a loan agreement struck last summer. Essentially, Roma set up a guaranteed payment structure, and Besiktas were on the hook. Smart move by Roma, I have to say.

So, Besiktas now own Abraham. But here's the kicker: they’re apparently willing to sell him on, and guess who's waiting in the wings? That's right, Aston Villa. Word on the street is that Villa have already agreed a deal with the Turkish club for around £18 million. Abraham even reportedly underwent a medical on Saturday after flying into the UK on Friday. This is starting to sound very real, isn't it?

For those of you with a good memory, you'll recall Abraham's hugely successful loan spell with Villa back in 2018-19. He was instrumental in their promotion to the Premier League, becoming a real fan favorite in the process. The idea of him back in claret and blue is certainly an exciting prospect, especially considering Villa's ambitions these days.

Besiktas confirmed their purchase, stating, "The conditions in the transfer contract of Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham have been fulfilled, and the provision for the permanent transfer of the player has come into effect. In this context, a transfer fee of 13m euros will be paid to AS Roma." So, the first domino has fallen.

Now, Abraham's journey hasn't always been smooth sailing. After a promising start at Roma, he struggled with injuries and consistency. He also spent a loan stint at AC Milan recently. Still, at 28, he's arguably entering his prime, and a return to a familiar environment like Villa might be exactly what he needs to reignite his best form. Remember, he banged in 12 goals in 24 games for Besiktas; the talent is undoubtedly there. Will this deal actually happen? That's the million-dollar (or rather, £18 million) question. But Villa fans have every right to feel optimistic. This could be a very shrewd piece of business.
