Arknights: Endfield, the highly anticipated gacha action RPG, has hit a snag right out of the gate. Hypergryph, the game's developer, has temporarily suspended PayPal transactions after a wave of players reported being charged for purchases they never made. Talk about a rocky launch!
Arknights Endfield: Players' Accounts Wiped?! PayP...
The issues started cropping up almost immediately after the game went live. Players took to social media and the game's official forums to voice their concerns, with some reporting hundreds, even thousands, of dollars or pounds vanishing from their PayPal accounts. Hypergryph quickly responded with an official statement acknowledging the problem and offering apologies to affected users.
One particularly unsettling account came from Reddit user Impossible Clover 818. Posting on the Endfield Reddit forum, they wrote, "Did anyone get refunded for the PayPal nonsense yet? My whole balance got wiped." Clover 818 went on to explain that a staggering £1,200 had been siphoned from their PayPal account, and to add insult to injury, PayPal then requested identification due to "suspicious activity." You can only imagine the frustration and panic someone would feel in that situation.
Hypergryph has promised to process refunds expeditiously, initially estimating a four-hour turnaround from the time reports were filed. However, the scope of the issue and the complexity of untangling fraudulent transactions often means these things take longer than expected. Here's hoping they can deliver on that promise.
“We understand how upsetting and concerning this kind of situation can be, especially when it involves purchases and personal payment details,” Hypergryph stated. The developer is working with PayPal to identify the source of the problem. "At the moment, PayPal payments will remain unavailable while we continue to investigate the root cause together with our partners. We won't re-enable the payment option until we're confident the issue has been fully resolved." This is a smart move, preventing further potential damage while they get to the bottom of things.
For those players affected, Hypergryph is urging them to reach out directly with any questions or concerns. It's a tough situation, and while a swift resolution is what everyone wants, it's good to see the developers taking it seriously and prioritizing the security and trust of their player base. I know if I were in that position, I'd be glued to their customer service channels! Let's hope they get this sorted out quickly so players can get back to enjoying Endfield without the financial headaches.
