Hold onto your racing gloves, folks! Word on the street – and by "street," I mean the often-murky back alleys of internet rumors – is that Forza Horizon 6 might be screeching onto our screens as early as May 19th. Yes, you read that right. May. As in, just around the corner. This potential bombshell is expected to drop during today's Xbox Developer Direct, so mark your calendars and get ready to (potentially) celebrate.
Forza Horizon 6 Release Date LEAKED?! What Happens...
Now, before we all start revving our engines in anticipation, let's pump the brakes for a second. This isn't coming directly from Microsoft, but rather from the ever-reliable (and sometimes utterly wrong) rumor mill. Specifically, a leak that surfaced earlier this month pointed towards this exact May release date. And, because leakers apparently love a good bonus, the same source also suggested a pre-order perk: a shiny, virtual Ferrari. Who wouldn't want that?
Of course, the whole situation gets a little more… complicated when you factor in the PlayStation 5. Microsoft already announced back in September that Forza Horizon 6 is indeed heading to the PS5, but don't expect to see it at the same time as the Xbox and PC versions. They made it clear that Xbox and PC are getting first dibs in 2026. So, while Xbox and PC gamers might be tearing up the digital asphalt in May (if the rumors are true), PlayStation owners will have to patiently wait for their turn. Apparently Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios are teaming up to make that PS5 port happen, so at least it's in good hands.
I have to admit, the prospect of a May release is exciting. I've always been a fan of the Forza Horizon series – the open-world driving, the gorgeous graphics, the sheer fun of it all. A spring release would be perfect timing, especially if we're talking about taking a break from the real world to just drive around a virtual landscape. The question remains: will Microsoft actually deliver on this rumor?
So, what's the verdict? Are these leaks the real deal, or just wishful thinking fueled by over-caffeinated gamers? We'll know soon enough. The Xbox Developer Direct kicks off at 6pm GMT. Eurogamer will be providing live coverage, so you can follow along and find out if the Forza Horizon 6 hype is justified. I, for one, will be tuning in with bated breath. Let's see if these rumors are about to shift into high gear.
