Filmhub, a tech-driven distribution company founded in 2020 by Alan d’Escragnolle and renowned film composer Klaus Badelt, is shaking up the traditional film distribution landscape. D’Escragnolle, a serial entrepreneur with a background in technology companies like Google, Intuit, and Cash App, partnered with Badelt, the composer behind blockbuster scores like *Pirates of the Caribbean* and *Gladiator*, to address the pain points Badelt experienced navigating the traditional distribution system. "Why is it so hard to get distribution or find the right sales agent or distributor? And why can’t we use technology to make this simpler?" Badelt questioned, sparking the creation of Filmhub.

The company currently handles over 30,000

The company currently handles over 30,000 titles and releases between 500 and 1000 films per month. While traditionally acquiring around five exclusive titles monthly, Filmhub is now embarking on a period of significant expansion, aiming to scale acquisitions to 20 titles per month. This growth is fueled by key new hires, including former eOne executive Dan Loewy, who will lead the licensing team, and Scott Post, formerly of Snap, as Head of Product Engineering.

Filmhub's technology plays a crucial role in managing this volume. The company works with over 300 sales agents, distributors, and studios, utilizing its system to ingest assets, create caption files, and generate key art, significantly accelerating the post-deal process.

Recent acquisitions highlight Filmhub's diverse content strategy, including *Dog Patrol: Operation Santa Paws*, starring Cuba Gooding Jr.; *Trap City*, featuring rapper Jeezy in his first feature role; and *SKIT*, a creator-led comedy backed by Evan Shapiro. This diverse slate reflects Filmhub's commitment to supporting a wide range of filmmakers and genres.

D'Escragnolle emphasizes that Filmhub operates much

D'Escragnolle emphasizes that Filmhub operates much like any other distributor, attending industry markets and engaging in similar deal structures. The key difference lies in the company's reliance on technology to optimize efficiency and accessibility. While the company has offices in New York and Los Angeles, it operates as a fully remote organization, reflecting its tech-forward approach.

By prioritizing technology and embracing a diverse range of content, Filmhub is poised to become a major player in the evolving film distribution landscape, offering filmmakers a streamlined and accessible path to reaching wider audiences. The company's focus on Black cinema and creator-led content further positions it as a champion for diverse voices and innovative storytelling.
