Well, folks, the Rialto's about to get a whole lot more star power! Mark Consuelos, he of "Live with Kelly and Mark" fame, is officially making his Broadway debut in Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Noël Coward's "Fallen Angels." And let me tell you, he's not slumming it. He's joining a cast already shimmering with the likes of Rose Byrne and Kelli O'Hara.
Mark Consuelos Broadway Debut! Who's Joining Him O...
Consuelos, whom many of us know from his turns in shows like "9-1-1," "Riverdale," and way back when, "All My Children," will be stepping into the role of Maurice Duclos. Honestly, I'm curious to see him tackle Coward's wit. This isn't exactly the gritty drama he's known for, which makes it all the more exciting. Previews start at the Todd Haimes Theatre on Friday, March 27th, so mark your calendars. The official opening is set for Sunday, April 19th, and the whole shebang wraps up on Sunday, June 7th. A limited engagement, so snag those tickets while you can.
But wait, there's more! The Roundabout just dropped even *more* names joining the production, further solidifying this as a must-see. Tracee Chimo, a familiar face from "Dying For Sex," "The Heidi Chronicles," and "Bad Jews," will be taking on the role of Saunders. Then there's Christopher Fitzgerald, a Tony Award nominee for his work in "Company" and "Waitress," who'll be playing Willy Banbury. And last but not least, Aasif Mandvi, whom you probably recognize from "The Daily Show" and "Oklahoma!," is set to portray Fred Sterroll. That's a *seriously* impressive ensemble.
Behind the scenes, the creative team is equally stacked. David Rockwell is handling the set design, Jeff Mahshie is in charge of costumes, Kenneth Posner is lighting it all up, and John Gromada is crafting the soundscape. Sounds like they're pulling out all the stops to give this classic comedy a fresh, modern feel.
I was particularly happy to see Tracee Chimo's name in the mix. She's a real chameleon as an actor, and her recent work in "Dying for Sex" was just phenomenal. She's got this incredible ability to balance humor and vulnerability, which I think will be perfect for Coward's sharp wit. Plus, her Broadway cred is undeniable. "Noises Off," "The Heidi Chronicles"... she's got the stage experience to really shine. This is shaping up to be one of the highlights of the spring theater season, and I, for one, can't wait to see how it all comes together. Stay tuned for our review!
