Danish MEP's SHOCKING Message to Trump Goes Viral!
Current Affairs 20 January 2026

Well, folks, things are getting heated up in the European Parliament. A Danish lawmaker, Anders Vistisen, didn't mince words when addressing former U.S. President Donald Trump's continued interest in Greenland. During a debate on the Arctic island, Vistisen launched into a pretty colorful tirade, shall we say. I've been in this business long enough to hear some strong opinions, but this was definitely one for the books.

Danish MEP's SHOCKING Message to Trump Goes Viral!

Vistisen, a member of the Danish People’s Party, reportedly started his remarks with a blunt message: "Let me put this in words you might understand. Mr. President, f**k off." Apparently, this isn't the first time he's used that particular phrase in relation to Trump; he allegedly used it shortly after Trump's second inauguration (which, let's be honest, was a surprise to many) back in January 2025. It's safe to say that Vistisen isn't exactly a fan.

Now, for those who might be scratching their heads, Trump has been quite vocal about his interest in American control over Greenland, which is an autonomous Danish territory. He's argued that the island is strategically important for countering what he sees as threats from Russia and China. Both Moscow and Beijing have, unsurprisingly, dismissed these claims, with Russia even going as far as condemning NATO's increased military presence in the Arctic. It's a complicated situation, to say the least.

This outburst from Vistisen comes amidst growing tensions with European NATO allies. They've made it clear that they're not on board with any changes to Greenland's current status and have warned that such pressure would violate international law. Denmark, for its part, has been adamant that the island's status isn't up for negotiation. You can't blame them; who wants someone else dictating what happens to their territory?

Vistisen's argument is that Trump only understands "direct language" and that the EU needs to show some real strength. He criticized the EU for what he perceives as a lack of resolve, hoping that the bloc will "finally wake up and take action." It's a sentiment that resonates with some who feel that the EU needs to stand up more forcefully on the world stage. I've heard similar sentiments expressed by other European politicians, but perhaps not quite so... bluntly.

Adding fuel to the fire, Trump has previously hinted at acquiring Greenland "the hard way" and hasn't ruled out the use of force. He even announced tariffs on some European NATO states for opposing his Greenland ambitions and participating in a Danish-led military exercise there. It's a move that many saw as unnecessarily aggressive and damaging to transatlantic relations.

And if that wasn't enough, Trump recently posted some rather… interesting AI-edited images on his Truth Social platform. One image showed an expanded U.S. map encompassing Canada, Venezuela, and Greenland, while another depicted him planting an American flag on Greenland, labeled "US territory." It's the kind of thing that would be funny if it wasn't potentially destabilizing. It seems like the Greenland issue is far from resolved, and frankly, I'm not sure where it's going to go from here.
