Cover Reveal – 007 First Light: Bond's Origin Story Unveiled!
Get ready, Bond fans! After what feels like an eternity, our favorite super spy is making a grand return to the video game world. This time, it's IO Interactive, the masterminds behind the *Hitman* series, taking the reins with *007 First Light*. And believe me, this isn't just another Bond game; it's an Origin Story!
James Bond is Back! First Look Leaves Fans Shaken,...
Game Informer magazine is dropping a bombshell with their next issue, featuring an exclusive, in-depth look at *007 First Light*. The folks at Game Informer actually trekked all the way to Copenhagen, Denmark, to get the inside scoop from IO Interactive themselves. That's dedication! They've promised a behind-the-scenes peek at how the studio is crafting this fresh take on the globetrotting agent experience. I have to say, knowing IO's pedigree, I'm expecting something special, something more than just a typical licensed game.
Issue 375 (February 2026) promises to delve deep into Bond's journey to becoming the 00 agent we all know and love. The cover art itself is intriguing, depicting a younger, less seasoned Bond during "The Iceland Incident." Apparently, this was a pivotal moment when MI6 first recognized his potential. This really sells the idea of the origin story, and it is exciting to see what new spin IO Interactive will give to the well-known formula.
According to art director Rasmus Poulsen, the cover isn't a literal recreation of those specific events. Instead, it's intended to capture the overall tone and feel of the game. He explained that the goal was to give readers a sense of the product as a whole, rather than just showcasing a single scene. Smart move, in my opinion. It's all about setting the right expectations and building anticipation.
But that is not all! The 007 coverage isn't the only reason to grab this issue. Game Informer is also dedicating a massive feature to the most anticipated games of 2026 and beyond. Whether you're hyped for *Grand Theft Auto VI*, *Control: Resonant*, *Judas*, *Stranger Than Heaven*, *Forza Horizon 6*, or *Gears of War: E-Day*, they've got you covered. Talk about a lineup!
The digital edition drops on January 27th, and it's packed to the gills. In addition to the Bond cover story and the "Most Anticipated" mega-feature, there's a retrospective on the first 30 years of Bandai Namco's *Tales* franchise, an investigation into the evolving definition of adventure games, and a look at the surprising success of *Love and Deepspace*. And of course, all the regular departments like Gear, Reviews, and exclusive interviews are there too. Sounds like a must-read, folks! I know I'll be checking it out.
Print editions will be rolling out to subscribers in the following weeks, and new subscribers can snag a copy at select newsstands and bookstores. Or, you know, just subscribe and get the next 10 issues delivered right to your doorstep. Consider me tempted!
