Hitman's PS5 Save Heads to Switch 2?! You Won't Believe What's Next!

Hitman's PS5 Save Heads to Switch 2?! You Won't Believe What's Next!
Gaming News 20 January 2026

Finally, some good news for globetrotting assassins! IO Interactive (IOI), the studio behind the meticulously crafted murder-sim, *Hitman: World of Assassination*, just dropped a bombshell: Cross-Progression is coming next month, specifically February 3rd. That means you'll finally be able to take your meticulously earned PS5 unlocks and carry them over to, say, a hypothetical Nintendo Switch 2 version. Or, you know, any other platform you play on.

Hitman's PS5 Save Heads to Switch 2?! You Won't Be...

Let's be honest, this has been a long time coming. I, for one, was scratching my head wondering why it wasn't implemented sooner, especially after the release of the Nintendo Switch version last year. You'd think they'd want to make it as easy as possible for players to hop between platforms and continue their silent (or not-so-silent) killing sprees. With IOI also gearing up for the release of their James Bond title, *007 First Light*, in May, and celebrating the fifth anniversary of *Hitman 3*, it felt like the Cross-Progression feature might get pushed to the back burner. Thankfully, that's not the case.

And that's not all. Alongside this awesome news, IOI is also giving its IOI Account service a facelift. Starting today, you'll notice a "brand-new, fresh look" on browsers and mobile phones. Hopefully, this means a smoother, more intuitive experience for managing your account and, crucially, linking those all-important platform accounts for the cross-progression to work its magic.

Now, a word of warning from IOI themselves: pay close attention to which accounts you've linked! According to their announcement, "old save games created on a non-primary linked account will not be loadable while Cross-Progression is active." In plain English, make sure you've got everything properly connected and updated before February 3rd. You don't want to lose hours of progress and those hard-earned Silent Assassin ratings. Trust me, I've been there, and it's not fun.

One more thing: IOI is also reminding players that the *Hitman 2* to *Hitman 3* "carryover" process will officially end on February 3rd. Basically, any progress you haven't already transferred will be locked to the latest iteration, *World of Assassination*. This makes sense, streamlining the whole process and preventing potential conflicts with the new cross-progression system. IOI's track record with progression and upgrades has been… let's just say "complex" in the past, so it's good to see them taking a cautious approach this time around.

So, what's next for Agent 47? While IOI has been tight-lipped about their future plans, they've hinted at more to come. However, don't expect any major announcements until after the release of *World of Assassination's* co-op mode (which I'm personally very curious about) and, of course, *007 First Light*. In the meantime, get ready to take your progress on the go, finally!
