Brendan Fraser's resurgence continues, and it's delightfully unexpected. He's not just winning awards and landing prestigious roles – he's also battling Lynels in Hyrule. Yes, the beloved actor, known for his roles in everything from "The Mummy" to his recent Oscar-winning turn in "The Whale," is just like us: struggling against the digital denizens of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."
Brendan Fraser's Zelda Fail?! What Fans Are Saying...
In a recent interview, Fraser confessed that he's still playing (and apparently stuck on) the critically acclaimed 2017 Nintendo Switch title. His biggest hurdle? Those pesky Lynels. For the uninitiated, Lynels are Centaur-like mini-bosses that are notoriously difficult to defeat, even for seasoned Zelda players. They're fast, powerful, and have a knack for turning even the best-equipped players into a steaming pile of regret.
"I want to know how to get better weapons without getting my ass kicked by all the Lynels," Fraser admitted to IGN. He also lamented the scarcity of bomb-flowers, a vital resource for taking down tougher enemies. I can relate. I remember my own first encounter with a Lynel; let's just say it involved a lot of screaming and a hasty retreat.
The interviewer, bless their heart, suggested the obvious: online guides and walkthroughs. But Fraser, a man of principle and apparently a glutton for punishment, is determined to conquer Hyrule the old-fashioned way. He wants to earn his victory, figuring things out through good old-fashioned trial and error. You've got to admire the commitment. I caved and used a guide after the tenth death, myself.
Of course, Fraser's career is far from limited to virtual adventures. He's set to portray Dwight D. Eisenhower in the upcoming film "Pressure," which is quite a leap from battling mummies and video game monsters. And for those of us who grew up with Rick O'Connell, the news that he'll be reprising that iconic role in a fourth "Mummy" movie is incredibly exciting.
So, while we eagerly await Fraser's return to the big screen in these very different, but high profile roles, it's comforting to know that he's also out there, controller in hand, facing the same frustrations (and hopefully triumphs) as the rest of us in the digital world. Maybe if we're lucky, we'll get some Lynel-fighting tips from him soon. In the meantime, good luck, Brendan! Hyrule needs you, even if the Lynels don't seem to care.
