Donald Trump, never one to mince words, has reportedly blasted Norway over the Nobel Peace Prize, or rather, his lack of one. According to a letter making the rounds in the media, the former president claims he’s now free from the constraints of “purely of peace” thinking because Oslo didn't recognize his… accomplishments, shall we say. Specifically, he mentioned "having stopped 8 Wars PLUS," which, depending on how you count, might be a bit of a stretch.
Trump's Shocking Statement: Peace Off the Table?! ...
The letter, addressed to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, seems to hinge on Trump's perception that the Nobel committee's snub somehow absolves him from prioritizing peaceful solutions. "I no longer feel[s] an obligation to think purely of Peace," he apparently wrote, though he did concede that peace would remain "predominant" on his agenda. Still, he emphasized a shift towards focusing on "what is good and proper for the United States of America." It’s a sentiment that will resonate with some, no doubt, but it definitely raises eyebrows given the global implications of American foreign policy.
But wait, there's more! The letter then veers into Trump's long-held desire to, shall we say, acquire Greenland. He argues that the "World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland," questioning Denmark's claim to the territory and suggesting they can't protect it from Russia or China. He even threw in a "I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States," which feels like a whole separate issue entirely.
The Greenland thing, as anyone remembers, caused quite a stir a few years back. Trump reportedly even considered imposing tariffs on European countries to force a sale, prompting a joint European warning of a "dangerous downward spiral." It's a complex situation, to say the least, and this renewed focus, tied to the Nobel snub, definitely adds another layer of intrigue. Makes you wonder what's next on the agenda, doesn't it?
Interestingly, the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who then gifted her medal to Trump. While Trump lauded this as "a wonderful gesture of mutual respect," the Nobel Committee essentially said, "Nope, doesn't work that way." They clarified that the award is non-transferable. So, while Trump might feel liberated from the shackles of pacifism, it seems the Nobel Committee isn't quite buying it, and the international community is left to interpret this latest chapter in Trump's worldview.
