Well folks, if you've been putting off diving into the remastered world of Yakuza 3, now's the time to act. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio just dropped a bit of a bombshell: Yakuza 3 Remastered will be disappearing as a standalone purchase next month. That's right, after the release of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, it's bundle-only for newbies.
Yakuza Fans Stunned! No Standalone Game After Next...
Now, before you panic and start frantically searching for a digital download, let me clarify. If you already own Yakuza 3 Remastered, breathe easy. You'll still be able to access and play the game to your heart's content. This change only affects those looking to experience the sunshine and seedy underbelly of Okinawa for the first time.
The official statement from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is, unsurprisingly, focused on the future. "The release of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is now less than one month away. Everyone at the studio has poured their hearts into creating this title, and we are truly looking forward to the day everybody can finally play it," they stated. “We place great importance on staying faithful to our creative direction, and we hope you will enjoy the completely new experiences we have envisioned for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties.” While they don't explicitly say *why* Yakuza 3 Remastered is being pulled as a standalone, it's safe to assume it's to nudge players towards the newer, shiny experience of the Kiwami title. Makes sense from a business perspective, I suppose.
So, what are your options if you *don't* own Yakuza 3 Remastered yet but are curious to try it? You’ve got a quickly closing window. As of today, you can snag it for £16 on the PlayStation Store and Steam, or a slightly pricier £18 on the Xbox Store. Alternatively, you could hunt down a physical copy of the Yakuza Remastered Collection, which includes remastered versions of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5. I personally prefer physical media – there's just something satisfying about having the box on your shelf.
This whole situation does make you wonder about game preservation and accessibility, doesn't it? While bundling games is common, completely removing the option to purchase a title individually feels a little… heavy-handed. Especially for a game that's already been released and enjoyed by many. Anyway, mark your calendars: Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is launching on February 12, 2026, for a wide range of platforms, including PC, PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 (yes, Switch 2!), and last-gen consoles. And remember, act fast if you want that standalone Yakuza 3 Remastered experience before it's gone!
