Well, folks, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update is finally here, and it's packed with goodies. We’re talking about the Roost café, Gyroids, and a brand-new Happy Home Paradise DLC that lets you design vacation homes. And that's where the latest buzz comes from: the hotel feature. Sounds idyllic, right? Design rooms, invite villagers... what could go wrong?
Animal Crossing SHOCK: Island Dream CRUSHED! Playe...
Turns out, there's a bit of a snag. While the ability to design personalized vacation homes for a rotating cast of Animal Crossing's hundreds of villagers is undeniably fun, there's a major limitation that's leaving some players feeling a little deflated. You can't actually *convince* these vacationing villagers to move to your main island permanently. Yeah, I know, bummer.
Think about it: You meticulously craft the perfect vacation home for, say, Raymond (because who wouldn't want Raymond?). He loves it! He's having a great time! You're envisioning him strolling through your town, sipping coffee at the Roost. But nope. He’s just there for the holiday. He's not signing a lease. Trust me, players have tried everything. Persuasion, charm, even offering him prime real estate next to the beach. Nothing works.
Now, before you throw your Switch against the wall in frustration, let's look at the bright side. The hotel offers a fantastic opportunity to get to know villagers you might not normally encounter. Think of it as a low-stakes "meet and greet" before committing to a permanent resident. That's actually pretty smart. I've definitely spent Nook Miles on those Island Tours only to find villagers who were… less than ideal.
You can stockpile Nook Miles and go on plenty of Island Tours to find villagers who are right for your island. Plus, if a villager you've vacationed with at the hotel shows up at your campsite later, you'll already have a rapport. Maybe that initial design work you did at the hotel helped sway them your way! It's not a perfect solution, I admit, but it's definitely a silver lining. So, enjoy designing those vacation homes, villagers – just don't expect them to stay forever.
