Brabus has a habit of taking already outrageous vehicles and cranking the dial all the way up to eleven. And their latest creation, the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition, is no exception. We're talking about a G-Wagon, already a symbol of excess and off-road prowess, infused with supercar-levels of power and enough carbon fiber to make Tony Stark blush.
Brabus Unleashes 900HP Beast! G-Wagon Reimagined!
Limited to just 30 units worldwide, the Rocket Edition is being touted as the absolute pinnacle of performance, image, and exclusivity – Brabus’s signature "Rocket" moniker isn't just thrown around lightly. Available in "Signature Black" and "Stealth Gray," the exterior is dominated by a bespoke widebody kit, meticulously crafted from that aforementioned visible-weave carbon fiber. I saw the images earlier today, and honestly, it's imposing. The front end boasts an illuminated carbon fiber radiator grille surround (naturally) and an equally illuminated Brabus logo. At the rear, a new roof spoiler and carbon fiber add-ons with their own distinct light signature further amplify the G-Class's already substantial presence. And those massive 24-inch Brabus Monoblock II EVO "Platinum Edition" wheels? They’re a statement piece, to say the least.
Stepping inside, you're greeted by a cabin that lives up to the "BRABUS Masterpiece" designation. High-quality black leather abounds, featuring a "Shell" quilting pattern that just screams luxury. Carbon fiber elements are liberally sprinkled throughout, creating a sporty yet opulent atmosphere. A particularly cool touch are the carbon fiber paddle shifters, which feature integrated LED shift indicators that display the ideal gear change moment in real-time. It's all very...over the top. In a good way, of course, if you're into that sort of thing (and clearly, Brabus buyers are).
But let's get to the heart of the matter: the power. Underneath that sculpted hood lies the uprated V8 Biturbo Brabus 900 engine. Displacement has been increased to 4.5 liters, resulting in a monstrous 900 horsepower and a staggering 1,250 Nm of torque. Let's be clear, this isn't just a chip tune; this is serious engine work. These figures allow the 2,640-kilogram (that's almost 5,800 pounds!) SUV to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in a mere 3.7 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 240 km/h (149 mph), presumably to prevent the thing from taking flight. It’s mind-boggling to think a vehicle this size can move that quickly while retaining all-wheel drive and its inherent off-road capabilities. It's almost comical, and yet, undeniably impressive.
The power bump is achieved through extensive mechanical modifications. Brabus enlarges the cylinder bores and uses a crankshaft with a longer stroke, increasing the displacement significantly. Two custom turbochargers with a boost pressure of up to 1.4 bar are employed. A stainless steel sports exhaust system, with actively managed sound, completes the package. You can switch between a roaring, aggressive tone and something a bit more…subdued. Relatively speaking, of course.
All this performance and exclusivity comes at a price, and a hefty one at that. The Brabus 900 Rocket Edition starts at €569,900. That’s roughly $615,000, depending on the exchange rate. This is a vehicle designed for a very select clientele, those who want to make a statement – a very loud, very fast, very carbon-fiber-clad statement.
