Dirty Business: Shocking Truths Exposed on Channel 4!
Movies & TV Series 16 January 2026

Okay folks, buckle up because Channel 4 is about to drop a bombshell. They've just announced "Dirty Business," a three-part factual drama that promises to be anything but clean. This isn't your typical cozy British telly; this is diving headfirst into the murky world of England's water companies, and from what I’m hearing, it's going to be explosive.

Dirty Business: Shocking Truths Exposed on Channel...

The cast alone is enough to get excited about. David Thewlis, an actor who can play absolutely anyone convincingly, is taking on the role of Ash, a former police detective who’s just trying to do the right thing. Jason Watkins, a master of portraying nuanced characters, plays Peter, Ash’s neighbor and a biology professor. Imagine those two teaming up – you know it's going to be compelling. And then there's Asim Chaudhry, who's proven his dramatic chops alongside his comedic brilliance, playing a sewage plant worker turned whistleblower. Talk about a character with a lot on the line!

Adding even more excitement to the mix is Posy Sterling, a recent BAFTA Rising Star nominee, who also joins the cast. While details of her role are still under wraps, the fact that Channel 4 is bringing in such a hot talent clearly signals they're taking this project seriously. Seriously enough to give it the weight it deserves, I think.

What really grabbed my attention is the subject matter. "Dirty Business" isn't just making things up. It's based on a decade-long investigation and tells the stories of real whistleblowers and everyday people whose lives were allegedly turned upside down by exposure to sewage-contaminated water. Let’s face it, most of us don’t spend a lot of time thinking about where our water comes from, or what happens to it after it goes down the drain. This drama promises to shine a light on that, and that makes it important.

Joseph Bullman, the writer and director, is no stranger to hard-hitting stories. He's got multiple BAFTAs under his belt for projects like "Killed By My Debt" and "Partygate," so you know he knows how to handle sensitive and complex topics. Teaming up with producers Laura McCutcheon and Meeshan Saxena, and executive producer Aysha Rafaele, Bullman is clearly surrounded by a solid team dedicated to bringing this story to life. Alisa Pomeroy and Rita Daniels at Channel 4 are also worth noting; they clearly have a keen eye for commissioning impactful factual entertainment.

Honestly, "Dirty Business" sounds like exactly the kind of drama we need right now – the kind that makes you think, makes you angry, and maybe even inspires you to take action. I, for one, will be tuning in. Get ready for some uncomfortable truths, folks.
