Audi Korea is betting big on two redesigned models, the A6 sedan and Q3 SUV, to keep its sales momentum rolling through 2026. According to CEO Steve Cloete, these vehicles are central to the company's strategy in the competitive Korean market, especially after a significant rebound in sales last year.
Audi Korea CEO's Bold Move: Can A6 & Q3 Keep the S...
"The A6 will certainly be the focus in Korea, and so would the Q3," Cloete told reporters. He emphasized the importance of these models, saying they will be launched in close proximity to one another, signaling Audi's intent to make a splash. I have to say, after years of seeing Audi's dominance in the early 2010s wane a bit, this feels like a renewed push for market share.
Last year was a good one for Audi Korea. They managed to shift 11,001 vehicles, marking a healthy 18.2 percent increase compared to the previous year. A big part of this success was the Q4 e-tron electric SUV, which proved to be a popular choice among Korean consumers. It's clear that the demand for EVs is growing, and Audi seems to be capitalizing on that trend.
In fact, the numbers speak for themselves: Audi Korea sold 4,427 electric vehicles last year, a whopping 26.6 percent jump year-over-year. EVs accounted for over 40 percent of their total sales. That's a significant proportion, and it underscores the importance of electric vehicles in Audi's future strategy in the Korean market. No longer is electric seen as just a niche market.
The A6 is more than just a car for Audi Korea; it's a symbol. As their flagship sedan, the redesigned A6 is expected to play a crucial role in boosting sedan sales. And speaking of key models, the Q3, their best-selling premium compact SUV, is getting a makeover with enhanced safety features and a refreshed exterior design. This should definitely appeal to safety conscious and style oriented customers.
Since taking the helm in 2024, CEO Cloete has made it a priority to diversify Audi's vehicle lineup. He recognized that a lack of new models had been holding the company back. His pledge to introduce 16 new models in 2025 appears to be paying off, judging by the strong sales recovery. It's a good reminder that in this industry, you can't stand still.
Beyond the Q4 e-tron, other models like the A5 sedan, Q5 SUV, and Q6 e-tron electric SUV also contributed to Audi Korea's balanced sales growth in 2025. Cloete has made it clear that Audi Korea will continue to focus on solid and balanced sales across its broader commercial lineup. In short, don't expect them to be a one trick pony. The A6 and Q3 are just the next step in this long term plan to revitalize the brand in South Korea.
