Well folks, it looks like we're going to be spending a little more time in Battlefield 6's Season 1 than originally anticipated. As previously reported, the Season 2 update for the game is officially delayed. But fear not, DICE isn't leaving us hanging completely. They're rolling out an extension to Season 1 loaded with extra goodies to keep us occupied while they polish up Season 2.
Battlefield 6 Delay?! Season 1 Gets HUGE Overhaul!...
The Season 1 extension, slated to drop on January 20th (the original end date, ironically), promises a fresh injection of content. Get ready for new weekly challenges, giving you even more reason to jump back into those chaotic virtual battlefields. For those still grinding away at the Season 1 battle pass, this delay grants you extra time to snag those coveted rewards. And perhaps most exciting, is the addition of a brand new "Frostfire" bonus path.
So, what exactly is this Frostfire path? Think of it as a mini-battle pass layered on top of the existing one. Free-to-play players can look forward to rewards like a hardware XP boost, a new vehicle skin, and some slick player-card customization options to show off your style. If you own the premium pass, you're in for even more treats, including a new weapon package, a career XP boost, and additional cosmetics. And the best part? You can progress through the Frostfire path alongside the regular Season 1 battle pass.
Unlike previous bonus offerings, the points needed for the Frostfire path are earned exclusively through the new weekly challenges. This should encourage active participation and keep things interesting for seasoned players. Beyond the Frostfire path, DICE also plans to introduce daily login rewards and sprinkle in some Double XP weekend events throughout the extension period. Plus, expect some Valentine's Day-themed festivities. Because what's more romantic than blowing up tanks with your sweetie?
Battlefield 6 certainly had a strong start, even managing to outsell Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in the US at launch. However, the post-launch content for Season 1 received a mixed reception. The final content drop, released right before the holidays, unfortunately introduced a wave of bugs and glitches, impacting gameplay and even forcing the postponement of the $1 million Redsec tournament series. Hopefully, this Season 1 extension will provide some much-needed stability and engaging content while DICE works on delivering a polished Season 2. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
