Audi's Electric Surge: 36% Sales Boom Leaves Rivals Stunned!
Automotive 14 January 2026

Audi is making serious headway in the electric vehicle market, even if the overall picture isn't quite as electrifying (pun intended!). The German automaker announced that it delivered 1.6 million vehicles globally in 2025, a figure that reflects a year of navigating some pretty choppy waters in the global economy and geopolitical landscape.

Audi's Electric Surge: 36% Sales Boom Leaves Rival...

While the total number of cars delivered remained fairly consistent, the real story here is the surge in electric vehicle sales. Audi saw a whopping 36% increase in EV deliveries, pushing them to a new record. This translates to over 223,000 electric cars finding their way into driveways worldwide. It’s clear that Audi's commitment to electrification is starting to pay off.

“Our product offensive is starting to gain traction, and deliveries are increasingly reflecting this," commented Marco Schubert, Audi's Board Member for Sales and Marketing. He highlighted the growing customer interest in models like the Audi A6 e-tron and Audi Q6 e-tron as evidence of the brand's successful transformation. You know, seeing those e-tron models on the road more and more, it definitely feels like Audi is taking this EV thing seriously.

Of course, it wasn't all smooth sailing. Audi faced headwinds from various factors, including geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, fierce competition in China, and the impact of U.S. customs policies. These challenges put pressure on overall sales, but strong performances in Europe and other emerging markets helped to offset some of the negative impact. Interestingly, they managed to increase deliveries every month from September onwards, ending the year on a positive note.

Breaking it down regionally, Europe (excluding Germany) remained a strong market, with EV deliveries jumping by around 40%. Even in Germany, Audi saw an impressive 89% surge in EV sales. North America, however, experienced a slight dip in overall deliveries, though EV sales still hit a new record. Canada was a particularly bright spot, recording one of Audi’s best performances ever. Despite the challenges in China, Audi managed to maintain its leading position among competitors, which is no small feat. They’re planning a big product push there in 2026, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

And let's not forget the smaller, but still significant, growth in overseas and emerging markets. Audi reported a 6% increase in deliveries, with EV sales rising by 26%. Countries like Argentina, Turkey, and Egypt showed the highest growth rates, indicating that Audi's electric vision is resonating with consumers in diverse parts of the world. All in all, 2025 seems to have been a year of strategic maneuvering for Audi, solidifying its position in the rapidly evolving EV landscape.
