Toyota CRUSHES Sales Records! What's Their Secret Weapon?!
Automotive 14 January 2026

Toyota is on a roll, and it's not just in Turkey. Fresh off record-breaking sales figures there, the automotive giant has announced another sales milestone, this time in Europe. It seems consumers across the continent are increasingly drawn to Toyota's offerings, particularly their electrified vehicle lineup.

Toyota CRUSHES Sales Records! What's Their Secret ...

Toyota Europe reported selling over 1.229 million vehicles in 2025, a new record for the company. But the really interesting part? The surge in popularity of their electric and hybrid models. A whopping 77% of Toyota Europe's total sales were electrified vehicles. We're talking about a 46% jump in fully electric vehicle sales, a massive 76% increase in plug-in hybrid sales, and even a respectable 3% bump in traditional hybrid sales. It's pretty clear where the market is heading, and Toyota appears to be navigating it quite effectively.

Toyota attributes this success to their "multi-mobility strategy," which basically means they're trying to have something for everyone. They're constantly developing new and exciting models, catering to a wide range of customer needs and preferences. And let's be honest, offering a variety of technologies, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and full electric, gives them a definite edge over competitors who might be focusing solely on one type of powertrain. This growth is also important for more than just Toyota’s bottom line. It's helping to drive down CO2 emissions at a faster rate, which is something we can all get behind.

The brand itself saw a 5% increase in sales between January and December, selling almost 1.144 million vehicles and maintaining its position as the second most popular brand in Europe for the fifth year in a row. The Yaris Cross led the charge with 200,477 units sold, followed by the Yaris (167,000 units) and the Toyota C-HR (143,000 units), which, fun fact, is actually produced in Turkey. Of those C-HRs, nearly 40,000 were the plug-in hybrid variant. The Corolla Sedan, another Turkish-made model, also performed well with over 62,000 sales. Overall, Toyota's electrified vehicle sales increased by 5% to 948,000, with fully electric sales jumping 53% to almost 52,000 and plug-in hybrids soaring 91% to around 72,000.

But it's not just passenger cars. Toyota's light commercial vehicles are also having a moment. Sales in that sector reached an all-time high of 158,270 units in 2025, a 19% increase. The Hilux saw a 20% sales increase, exceeding 46,000 units, while the PROACE family, known for its versatility, experienced a 19% increase in sales. These impressive numbers have pushed Toyota's light commercial vehicle market share in Europe to a new record of 6.7%. All in all, Toyota is firing on all cylinders, and it will be interesting to see if they can maintain this momentum in the years to come.
