Hytale BREAKS Twitch! Gamers STUNNED by Early Access Launch!
Gaming News 14 January 2026

Well, folks, it looks like there's a new king in town – at least when it comes to Twitch viewership. Hytale, the sandbox game born from the minds behind the wildly popular Minecraft server Hypixel, absolutely exploded onto the scene today. The early access launch was nothing short of a phenomenon, rocketing the game straight to the top of Twitch charts and leaving other titles in its digital dust. At one point, Hytale commanded over 420,000 viewers, a truly impressive feat.

Hytale BREAKS Twitch! Gamers STUNNED by Early Acce...

This is a story of resilience, to say the least. Just six short months ago, whispers of Hytale's cancellation were circulating. Remember that viral trailer from 2018 that set the internet ablaze? It felt like a lifetime ago. The hype was real, and Riot Games clearly saw it, leading to their investment and eventual acquisition of the project in 2020. But then, the dreaded delays hit. Scope creep, they call it. And earlier this year, the rumors intensified, suggesting Riot had quietly shelved the whole thing.

Then, out of seemingly nowhere, BAM! Co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme announced in November that he'd managed to wrestle back the IP rights from Riot. Can you imagine the scramble? It was a rapid-fire development sprint to get the game ready for this early access release. And, judging by today's numbers, it clearly paid off. Talk about a turnaround story.

But it's not just about the Twitch numbers. Hytale's already raking in the dough, reportedly generating enough revenue to fund another two years of development. That's a serious vote of confidence from the community. And speaking of community, the modding scene is already on fire! I saw one report of someone managing to run freakin' Doom within Hytale. The possibilities seem endless, and that's exactly the kind of energy that fuels a game like this.

Official player count figures from Hypixel are still under wraps, so we're all waiting with bated breath. Collins-Laflamme has thrown down the gauntlet, predicting a million players on launch day. It's an ambitious target, no doubt, but honestly? After witnessing the sheer enthusiasm surrounding this launch, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he hits it. We'll be keeping a close eye on this one. Stay tuned for updates.
