Helldivers 2 commanders, get ready to embrace the shadows. Arrowhead Game Studios is dropping the Redacted Regiment Warbond on January 20th, and it looks like stealth is officially on the menu. Finally, some options for those of us who prefer a more... subtle approach to spreading managed democracy.
Helldivers 2: New Warbond Lets You Choose – Stealt...
This isn't your average "run in guns blazing" update. The Redacted Regiment focuses on infiltration, subterfuge, and generally being a massive pain in the neck for the Automatons and Terminids without alerting the entire sector. And let me tell you, after getting swarmed countless times, the idea of thinning the herd quietly is incredibly appealing.
The centerpiece, of course, is the new arsenal. We're getting three new weapons, each designed to help you stay off the enemy's radar. First, the R-72 Censor, a suppressed marksman rifle. Perfect for picking off those pesky patrols from a distance. Then there's the AR-59 Suppressor, a fully automatic assault rifle with, you guessed it, a silencer. Lay down some suppressing fire (quietly!) and advance. The real kicker, though, is the P-35 Re-Educator pistol. This thing fires darts that induce "delirium" in organic targets and a "delirium-like malfunction" in robots. Imagine the chaos you could cause with that! I can already picture the hilarious YouTube montages.
But it doesn't stop there. Arrowhead is also throwing in some new stratagems to complete the stealth package. The B/MD C4 Pack lets you plant explosives and detonate them remotely, either individually or all at once. Think taking down entire bug nests with a single, silent boom. And the TM-01 Lure Mine? It attracts enemies with lights and sounds before exploding. Talk about a trap card!
To further enhance your stealth prowess, two new armor sets are included, both featuring the "Reduced Signature" passive. This reduces both noise and enemy detection range. Plus, the Concealed Insertion booster drops a smokescreen when you deploy from your Hellpod. No more landing in the middle of a swarm of angry bugs! Speaking from experience, that's a welcome change.
Of course, no Warbond would be complete without some new cosmetic capes to show off your style (or lack thereof, if you're truly dedicated to stealth). As with previous Warbonds, the Redacted Regiment will cost 1,000 Super Credits. You can earn them in-game, or, if you're feeling impatient, purchase them. So, gear up, Helldivers. It's time to bring the silent revolution to the front lines. Just try not to get *too* good at it – we still need a little chaos, right?
