Siakam SHINES, But Pacers COLLAPSE?! What's REALLY Happening?!
Politics 13 January 2026

It's been a predictably tough year for Indiana, even with Pascal Siakam playing like an All-Star. The Pacers, currently dwelling at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, haven't had much to cheer about this season. But every once in a while, a spark ignites, reminding fans why they keep showing up. Last night, that spark came in the form of Pascal Siakam's clutch performance against the Boston Celtics.

Siakam SHINES, But Pacers COLLAPSE?! What's REALLY...

Siakam, the Pacers' All-Star forward, hit a game-winning shot with seconds remaining, securing a thrilling 98-96 victory for Indiana. The play itself was a thing of beauty – Siakam isolating against Derrick White, a series of calculated dribbles, and then a spin move leading to a soft floater that banked perfectly off the glass. It was the kind of play that electrifies a crowd and briefly masks the frustrations of a long, difficult season. I've seen a lot of these moments over the years, and the energy in the building was undeniable.

Despite the dramatic win, let's be real, the Pacers' record is still a dismal 9-31. They're currently enjoying a three-game winning streak, a welcome change, but it hardly erases the struggles they've faced. Still, for a team desperately searching for positives, Siakam's continued stellar play offers a glimmer of hope. He's putting up even better numbers this season than last year, when he was already an All-Star.

With the NBA introducing a new All-Star format – U.S. vs. the World – Siakam, who hails from Cameroon, has a shot at another invitation. And he deserves it. While humble in his response, saying he's "not too focused on it," you can tell it would mean a lot to him. He's focused on being the best player he can be, and that's what matters. Indiana coach Rick Carlisle is certainly in his corner, actively advocating for Siakam's selection. "Pascal Siakam is one of the favorite players I’ve ever been around at any level,” Carlisle remarked, his enthusiasm evident. "He's just amazing.”

This victory is especially sweet considering the Pacers' recent trials. After defeating Sacramento in early December for Carlisle's 999th career win, the team then went on an agonizing 13-game losing streak, leaving Carlisle stuck on the cusp of a milestone for what felt like an eternity. The drought finally ended on January 8th, ushering in a much-delayed celebration. It's been a trying year, to say the least.

Siakam himself acknowledged the challenges, stating, "Definitely one of the most challenging years for me, I think, on the court and also even emotionally... All I really want is to win. And I’ve been so used to being in a winning situation, so this situation, it's hard. It's tough.” You can see the frustration etched on his face after every loss. But even in the midst of adversity, Siakam continues to shine, providing a beacon for a team desperately seeking direction. As for the Celtics? Their coach, Joe Mazzulla, kept his postgame comments brief and cryptic, simply repeating "illegal screen" to every question. Guess they weren't too happy about that game-winner.
