Lamborghini Unleashes Temerario Super Trofeo: A RWD, Track-Only Beast

Lamborghini is doubling down on performance with the unveiling of the Temerario Super Trofeo, a track-focused iteration of its Huracan successor. Ditching the hybrid powertrain of the standard model, this rear-wheel-drive racer is a pure internal combustion engine (ICE) machine designed to dominate the Super Trofeo series, Lamborghini's own single-make championship.

Lamborghini's Temerario Goes Rogue: Ditches Hybrid...

This second iteration of the Temerario, following the GT3 version, signals a bold move by the Italian marque. While the road-going Temerario embraces electrification, the Super Trofeo returns to Lamborghini's raw, visceral roots. Powering this beast is a twin-turbo V-8 engine, churning out a formidable 641 horsepower. While this is less than the street car's gas-powered engine, the Super Trofeo prioritizes agility and track performance.

Beyond the powertrain, the Temerario Super

Beyond the powertrain, the Temerario Super Trofeo boasts a dramatically enhanced aerodynamic package. A much more aggressive body kit, highlighted by a colossal rear wing, ensures optimal downforce and stability at high speeds. Inside, while images remain under wraps, Lamborghini promises a fully integrated FIA-compliant roll cage and a cutting-edge Dinamica Infinity-covered instrument panel, a pioneering application of "PES [polyester] single-component non-woven suede" in the automotive world.

Performance enhancements extend beyond the visual. The Super Trofeo features a 12-point adjustable traction control system, allowing drivers to fine-tune the car's handling characteristics. A Capristo exhaust, BMC air filters, and KW suspension further contribute to its track-ready capabilities.

While Lamborghini remains tight-lipped about the Super Trofeo's exact weight, the GT3 version tips the scales at 2,866 pounds (1,300 kilograms) before fluids. The standard Temerario, in comparison, weighs significantly more, a difference attributed to its all-wheel-drive hybrid system, sound insulation, and other road-legal necessities.

The unveiling of the Super Trofeo

The unveiling of the Super Trofeo inevitably fuels speculation about a potential street-legal RWD variant. Given Lamborghini's history, particularly the evolution of the Huracan into the track-focused STO, a similar transformation for the Temerario seems highly probable. CEO Rouven Mohr's subtle hints only add fuel to the fire.

For now, however, Lamborghini's priority is commencing deliveries of the regular production Temerario. The Super Trofeo, on the other hand, won't hit the track until the 2027 season, giving Lamborghini ample time to fine-tune this rear-wheel-drive masterpiece and prepare it for a season of intense competition.
