RCMP Bombshell: Indian Government Ties to Bishnoi Gang?!
Current Affairs 13 January 2026

A bombshell RCMP report has surfaced, alleging a disturbing connection between a notorious Indian gang and the Indian government. The report, obtained by Global News, claims the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for extortion and murder-for-hire activities in Canada, is "acting on behalf of the Indian government."

RCMP Bombshell: Indian Government Ties to Bishnoi ...

The classified document, prepared by the RCMP's national security division, pulls no punches. It repeatedly mentions the alleged ties between the crime group and the Indian government, doing so no less than six times within a mere three pages. This isn't some offhand remark; it's a core assessment of the Bishnoi gang's growing influence within Canada. The report, marked "Protected A," was distributed internally last year, and a copy was recently released under the Access to Information Act. You have to wonder, why now?

“The Bishnoi Crime Group is a violent criminal organization with an active, continually expanding presence in several countries, including Canada,” the report states matter-of-factly. Forget political ideology or religious fervor; the RCMP paints a picture of a group driven purely by greed, engaging in extortion, drug trafficking, money-laundering, and, chillingly, contract killings. And then comes the zinger: “The Bishnoi Crime Group is known to use violence to further their criminal enterprise, while acting on behalf of the Indian government.”

The timing of the report's release raises eyebrows. While undated, it references B.C. Premier David Eby’s June 17, 2025, request to designate the Bishnoi gang as a terrorist organization. More significantly, its release coincides with Premier Eby's current trade mission to India and Prime Minister Mark Carney’s planned visit later this year, part of a larger effort to diversify Canada’s trade portfolio, particularly in light of, let's face it, the unpredictable tariff policies of the former U.S. administration.

This push for closer ties with India has drawn sharp criticism. Organizations representing Canadian Sikhs, who are allegedly the primary targets of India's campaign of violence, have accused Canadian politicians of prioritizing trade over accountability, effectively betraying them by overlooking alleged assassination plots targeting South Asian Canadians. "The RCMP and the government of Canada are clearly aware that the Bishnoi gang is operating in coordination with the government of India to target individuals in Canada," said Balpreet Singh, spokesperson for the World Sikh Organization of Canada. "But for political convenience, this reality is being downplayed and hidden." It's a serious accusation.

Singh added, "It is deeply troubling that the Canadian government appears willing to overlook India’s ongoing campaign of transnational repression and its clear links to the Bishnoi gang at the expense of the safety and security of Canadians." Calls to the Indian High Commission in Ottawa and Prime Minister Carney’s office for comment went unanswered. The silence is deafening. Carney has previously stated that the justice system was dealing with incidents of violence, but that hardly seems adequate in light of these new allegations. The implications are significant, and the pressure on Ottawa to respond transparently is only going to intensify.
