Anton, the Greenland-based production and financing powerhouse behind films like "Paddington" and series like "His Dark Materials," is making moves to seriously ramp up its marketing game. They've just snagged Jamie Schwartz, a seasoned vet with experience at Sky and Focus Features, to head up their marketing and publicity as Director of Marketing and Brands – a brand new position at the company.

Based out of London, Schwartz will be reporting directly to Anton CEO Sébastien Raybaud. His mission? To craft and execute Anton’s global marketing and brand strategy for both their film and TV projects. It's a pretty significant hire, signaling Anton's intent to really compete on a global scale.
And what a slate Schwartz is inheriting! We're talking some heavy hitters. First up is "My Darling California," a dark comedy crime-thriller with a cast that reads like an Oscar nominee convention: Jessica Chastain, Josh Brolin, Chris Pine, and more. Then there's Paul Weitz's "In Love," starring George Clooney and Annette Bening, which is based on Amy Bloom's incredibly moving memoir. Plus, a psychological horror film called "Victorian Psycho" with Maika Monroe and Jason Isaacs, and the survival thriller "A Prayer for the Dying" with Johnny Flynn and John C. Reilly. That's a lot of star power to work with.
Schwartz certainly has the resume to handle it. Before joining Anton, he was Director of Movies Marketing at Sky, where he spearheaded the theatrical releases of films like "Lee" and "Nuremberg." Before that, he was busy launching campaigns for massively popular streaming shows like "The Last of Us," "Succession," and "House of the Dragon" over at Now TV. And let's not forget his time at Focus Features, where he worked on the international releases of critically acclaimed films like "Darkest Hour," "BlacKkKlansman," "Downton Abbey," and even indie darlings like "Lady Bird." That's a pretty diverse portfolio, showcasing a real understanding of the market across different genres and platforms.
Anton's ambitions are no secret. Back in 2024, they secured a whopping €100 million in funding, led by BlackRock. With offices already in London, Los Angeles, and Berlin, Raybaud's vision is to create a true "pan-European studio" that focuses on commercially viable English-language films, particularly in the action, thriller, horror, and sci-fi spaces. They’re clearly playing the long game and building something substantial. It'll be interesting to see how Schwartz shapes their brand and elevates their profile in a crowded market. As Raybaud himself put it, Schwartz has an "extraordinary track record," and they're thrilled to have him on board. Judging by the projects they're backing, and the team they're assembling, Anton is definitely one to watch.
