Shelby is about to drop a bombshell on the muscle car scene: the 2026 Super Snake, a tarmac-melting machine boasting over 840 horsepower. This isn't your grandpa's Mustang. We're talking about a seriously upgraded beast, built on the back of the current Mustang S650 platform. But get this, they're only making 300 of these exclusively for the American market, so if you're thinking about grabbing one, you better move fast.
Shelby Super Snake Unleashed! 840+ HP Monster Read...
The heart of the Super Snake is, of course, the engine. They've taken the already potent 5.0-liter V8 and, with the optional supercharger, cranked it up to a ridiculous 840+ hp. For those who prefer a slightly less aggressive ride (if 486 hp can even be considered "less aggressive"), the standard engine mirrors the Mustang GT's output. But let's be honest, who's buying a Super Snake for "slightly less aggressive?"
It's not just about brute force, though. Shelby has gone all-in on the performance upgrades. We're talking about an enhanced cooling system to keep that beastly engine from melting down, a Borla exhaust that'll make your neighbors hate you (in the best way possible), performance half shafts, a Shelby-tuned suspension system, and of course, Shelby brakes to bring it all to a halt. And for those who like options, the Super Snake is available in both coupe and convertible, with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission. Decisions, decisions!
Visually, the Super Snake is a statement. Forget subtlety. It's got a unique bumper setup that's way more aggressive than anything else on the Mustang lineup. Check out the vented aluminum hood with hood pins, and carbon fiber accents sprinkled throughout. The rear end gets a carbon fiber diffuser and ducktail spoiler. Fastback models even get a carbon fiber era wing. Super Snake stripes and badging are, naturally, plastered all over the thing so everyone knows what just blew their doors off. Inside, expect Shelby-embroidered floor mats, door sill plates, and seatbacks. And to remind you of its exclusivity, each car gets a numbered plaque.
Now for the sticker shock. The 2026 Super Snake starts at a cool $175,885. That price includes the base Mustang GT Premium Fastback, Performance Pack, active exhaust, MagneRide suspension, red brake calipers, and a B&O sound system. To put that into perspective, a standard 486-hp Mustang GT starts around $48,555. The 507-hp Mustang Dark Horse is around $66,075, and even the bonkers Mustang GTD is "only" over $300,000. So, the Super Snake is definitely positioned in that upper echelon of performance Mustangs. Shelby has already kicked off production, and with only 300 units planned, it's safe to say these won't be sitting on dealer lots for long. Time to start selling some kidneys, folks.
