Taipei, Taiwan – The 40th Golden Disc Awards With Upbit, held at the Taipei Dome on January 10th, wasn't just a celebration of Korean music's best and brightest; it was, according to many fans, "the Jennie show." BLACKPINK's Jennie Kim, attending the event without her fellow bandmates, practically swept the awards, leaving a shimmering trail of trophies in her wake and proving once again her immense star power.

The ceremony itself was already a landmark event. Forty years is a serious milestone, and holding it for the first time ever at the Taipei Dome, a venue known for hosting some of Asia's biggest names, definitely added to the prestige. Veteran singer Sung Si-kyung and actress Moon Ga-young did a solid job hosting, keeping things moving smoothly between the various performances and award presentations. But let's be honest, all eyes were on Jennie.

Her first trip to the stage came when she accepted the Digital Song Bonsang, a major award, for her solo track "Like Jennie." You could see she was genuinely touched. "It has been a while since I came back to the Golden Disc Awards, and I’m still shaking receiving such an award," she admitted. "I’m especially happy to see fans again." The fans were clearly happy to see her too, judging by the roar that went up when her name was called. She went on to thank the team behind her solo project, including her agency and, of course, the Blinks (BLACKPINK's dedicated fanbase).

But the night wasn't just about her solo success. Moments later, she was back on stage, accepting an award on behalf of BLACKPINK. A slightly surprised Jennie even asked, "Everyone, BLACKPINK won an award. Are the members watching?" Waving to the audience, she addressed the Blinks directly: "I see BLINKs here — hi!" It was a sweet, personal moment, and it felt genuine. She assured everyone that Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa would be thrilled about the recognition and that she was accepting the award on their behalf. And of course, no BLACKPINK speech would be complete without a shoutout to producer Teddy, whom she thanked and declared her love for. Always good to acknowledge the unsung heroes, right?

Adding another feather to BLACKPINK's cap, the group was also included in the Golden Disc Powerhouse 40, a special list commemorating 40 artists who've had a significant impact on K-pop over the awards' four-decade history. This really solidified BLACKPINK’s status as global icons, not just a fleeting trend.

Despite being the only BLACKPINK member present, Jennie made sure to emphasize the group’s unity and future plans. “Even though I’m here by myself today, I feel so proud and happy," she concluded. "I’ll continue working to become an artist who has a positive influence.” And frankly, judging by the reception she received, she’s already well on her way.
