2026 TV Schedule SHOCK! Your Favorite Books Are Co...
Kicking things off in January is "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" on HBO Max, a "Game of Thrones" prequel we've all been patiently (or maybe not so patiently) waiting for. This six-episode series adapts George R.R. Martin's "The Hedge Knight," delving into the earlier history of Westeros. Just before that, Netflix is serving up Alice Feeney's twisty thriller, "His & Hers," also in January. So, winter is definitely coming...with a whole lot of captivating television.
But the book-to-screen bonanza doesn't stop there. Shortly after, we'll be swept away by "Bridgerton" Season 4 on Netflix, which I'm particularly excited about since it’s supposedly drawing inspiration from the third book in Julia Quinn’s series. Which direction will they go, and which Bridgerton sibling's love life will be under the microscope? The possibilities are endless!
March brings us something particularly unique: the second season of "The Last Thing He Told Me" on Apple TV. What makes it special? It’s based on a sequel novel, "The First Time I Saw Him," penned by Laura Dave concurrently with the show’s production. How meta is that? Then, in April, Apple TV will continue its bookish streak with "Margo’s Got Money Troubles".
Let's dive a little deeper into some of these upcoming shows. "His & Hers" on Netflix promises a taut thriller set against the backdrop of Atlanta and a small Georgia town. With Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal leading the cast, expect intense performances and plenty of suspense. And for those already hooked on the messy drama of "Tell Me Lies," Season 3 hits Hulu in January, promising a time jump and, presumably, even more complicated relationships. Showrunner Meagan Oppenheimer knows how to keep us coming back for more.
Of course, we can't forget the Queen of Crime! Netflix is adapting Agatha Christie’s "The Seven Dials Mystery" as a three-part series, also premiering in January. With Mia McKenna-Bruce as the intrepid Lady Eileen ‘Bundle’ Brent and a supporting cast including Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Freeman, this is sure to be a stylish and suspenseful whodunit.
So, there you have it – a sneak peek at some of the book-based TV shows heading our way in 2026. It’s shaping up to be a year of captivating stories brought to life, offering something for every type of reader (and viewer!). Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some reading to do...to prepare for all the binge-watching.
