Women's College Basketball 2025-2026 Undefeated Teams Tracker: Vandy Sustains Historic Start

Vandy's Undefeated Run SHATTERED! What Happened?! ...

As the calendar flips to mid-January and conference play intensifies, one question hangs in the air around women's College Basketball: who can stay perfect? The pressure is mounting, the stakes are rising, and the margin for error is shrinking by the day. As of January 7th, just four teams remain unblemished in the 2025-2026 season. Let's dive into their journeys and the battles they'll face as they chase that elusive undefeated dream. It’s a tough road, believe me, I've covered this sport for years, and it always seems like someone stumbles when you least expect it.

Texas Tech is making some serious noise out in the Big 12. They added another Quad 1 victory to their resume with a decisive win over West Virginia this past Wednesday. Before that, they toppled No. 21 Baylor just before Christmas. But the road doesn't get any easier. Looming on the horizon are tough matchups against Kansas State and a Top 10 Iowa State team before the month is out. Can they navigate this gauntlet and stay perfect? It's going to be a real test of their depth and resilience.

UConn, as usual, is UConn. They always have a target on their back, and this year is no different. You could argue that the Huskies have faced the toughest schedule of any undefeated team in the nation. The NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) ranks their schedule as the fourth most challenging out of all 363 Division I teams. They've already battled through four Quad 1 opponents and five Quad 2 opponents. The schedule doesn't let up anytime soon, with Villanova (currently 35th in NET), Notre Dame, and Seton Hall all waiting in the wings. Coach Geno always finds a way though, doesn't he?

Then there's Vanderbilt, enjoying a season that's rewriting program history. The Commodores are off to their best start ever. While they had twice before started seasons 13-0, they had yet to truly test themselves against a top-tier opponent. That changed recently when they faced No. 5 LSU – a team that was previously undefeated until a stunning loss to No. 11 Kentucky. Vandy not only held their own, but they secured a statement win, handing the Tigers their second consecutive defeat. It's a huge confidence booster and signals that this Commodore team might be a serious contender.

Of course, the flip side of all this success is struggle. On the other end of the spectrum, several teams are still searching for that elusive first victory. Here's a quick rundown of the teams still looking to break into the win column this season:

* New Orleans, Southland, 0-12 (1-0 against Division II) * Prairie View, SWAC, 0-11 (2-0 against Division II) * Louisiana, Sun Belt, 0-12 (1-1 against Division II) * Saint Francis, NEC, 0-12 (0-1 against Division II) * Long Beach State, Big West, 0-12 (1-0 against Division II) * Delaware State, MEAC, 0-13 (3-0 against Division II) * Western Carolina, SoCon, 0-11 (3-0 against Division II) * Central Connecticut, NEC, 0-13 (0-0 against Division II) * Presbyterian, Big South, 0-13 (2-0 against Division II) * Morgan State, MEAC, 0-15 (1-1 against Division II)

Hopefully, these teams can find some momentum soon. It’s a long season, and there's still plenty of basketball left to be played.
