Trump SHUTS DOWN Diddy Pardon?! What Happens Next is SHOCKING!
Movies & TV Series 09 January 2026

Donald Trump, a man known for his political zigzags and pronouncements, has apparently put the kibosh on Sean "Diddy" Combs' hopes for a presidential pardon. It's a story with layers, and honestly, it's hard to know where to begin.

Trump SHUTS DOWN Diddy Pardon?! What Happens Next ...

In an interview with *The New York Times*, Trump revealed that the incarcerated music mogul had actually sought clemency, in writing no less. The *Times* article, interestingly, is the same one that managed to keep the administration’s plan to, shall we say, deal with Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro under wraps. Talk about burying the lede!

According to Trump, Combs "asked me for a pardon…through a letter." While he didn’t exactly whip out the letter for the *NYT* reporters to peruse (I can only imagine the scene), he did tell them he wasn't planning on letting Diddy off the hook, according to the paper’s report. This confirms a rumour that has been doing the rounds for a while now.

And this isn't the first time Trump has publicly addressed Diddy's plea. Back on October 6th, during one of his signature sprawling press conferences, Trump declared, "I call him Puff Daddy. He has asked me for a pardon." I remember thinking at the time, "Well, that's a little awkward."

However, just weeks later, the winds seemed to shift. "It was always going to be a long shot if he would grant the pardon or not," a source familiar with the situation told Deadline. And that’s the thing with Trump, isn’t it? You never quite know where he’s going to land on any particular issue.

Even before the verdict in Diddy's trial, where he was acquitted on sex-trafficking and racketeering charges (though the shadow of those accusations lingers), a pardon from the former president was seen as a potential, if unlikely, possibility. You have to remember, the lead prosecutor in Diddy's case was Maurene Comey, daughter of James Comey, a man Trump has famously had a…complicated relationship with. This probably added some spice to the mix, and maybe even some potential leverage.

Deadline reported in late July that Trump had been "seriously considering" a pardon. But, citing criticisms Diddy had leveled against him during his first term, Trump apparently had second thoughts about freeing the "half-innocent" Combs, as he reportedly called him. You know, "half-innocent" – Trump’s way of saying, "Maybe, but probably not."

Trump's attorneys confirmed their client, who has admitted to domestic violence, had indeed been trying to get on the White House's good side. Now, Diddy is slated to be released from Fort Dix in New Jersey on May 25, 2028, and an expedited appeal is expected this spring. It looks like Diddy will have to do his time, at least for now.
