Christopher Briney, heartthrob of Amazon Prime's "The Summer I Turned Pretty," is sticking with what works. He's just landed the lead in "Clashing Through the Snow," a new comedy feature also under the Amazon MGM Studios banner. Think modern-day "Planes, Trains and Automobiles," and you're on the right track. I, for one, am already picturing the holiday-themed chaos and comedic mishaps.
"The Summer I Turned Pretty" Star's SHOCKING New R...
Carlson Young, fresh off directing the Prime Video rom-com "Upgraded," will be at the helm of this project. Production is slated to kick off in February, and judging by Young's previous work, we can expect a visually appealing and light-hearted film. It's definitely something to look forward to in the new year.
Briney's star is definitely on the rise. Beyond "The Summer I Turned Pretty," he recently appeared in the "Mean Girls" musical film. And before "Clashing Through the Snow," he'll pop up in a recurring role on "Hacks," which is a fantastic show if you haven't seen it. His debut was actually opposite Ben Kingsley in "Daliland," a far cry from teen romance, showcasing his range. He's also attached to "The Julia Set," alongside Chase Infiniti and Jason Isaacs, proving he's not afraid to experiment with different genres.
Wonderland Sound and Vision partners McG and Mary Viola are producing "Clashing Through the Snow." These are the folks behind some seriously successful streaming movies. We're talking Amazon’s "Musica" and Netflix’s holiday rom-com giants like "Love Hard" and "Holidate." Nielsen reports say these movies racked up a combined 1.3 billion viewed minutes. That’s…a lot of minutes. Their past credits also include "I Feel Pretty," "Before We Go," and "When We First Met," so they clearly know their way around the rom-com space. They've also just wrapped post-production on the Chris Pratt project "Way of the Warrior Kid" and Season 2 of "Average Joe," so their plate is full, to say the least.
This project also marks producer Jonathan Roklin’s sixth collaboration with Amazon MGM. His recent credits include "Upgraded," "The Other Zoey," "One Fast Move," and a few more. He definitely has a knack for picking projects that resonate with the streaming audience. It seems like everyone is hoping to recreate that holiday-streaming magic, and with Briney in the lead, "Clashing Through the Snow" certainly has a good chance. I, for one, will be adding it to my watchlist!
As for representation, Briney is with CSED and Industry Entertainment, and Peikoff Mahan Law Office. Young is repped by WME, Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher. And Wonderland is with WME. This is definitely a project with some serious industry heavyweights behind it, which bodes well for its success. Let's hope it delivers the laughs!
