Hold onto your Pip-Boys, Fallout fans! It looks like we might be venturing back into the wasteland sooner than we thought. A new report is making the rounds suggesting that filming for Fallout Season 3 could kick off as early as May 1st. That's right, May! If this pans out, it shaves nearly two months off the previously anticipated summer start date.
Fallout Season 3: Filming SOONER Than We Thought?!...
This buzz comes from ProductionList.com, and they're usually pretty reliable. The site also indicates that the production will once again set up shop in Santa Clarita, California, which, if you remember, was the same location they used for Season 2. Makes sense to stick with what works, right?
Now, last month, executive producer Jonathan Nolan (yes, *that* Nolan) was hinting at a summer filming start, with a clear ambition to get Season 3 out to us as quickly as possible. I remember thinking, "Summer? That's so far away!" But it seems the winds of the wasteland are blowing in our favor. The report also confirms the return of creators Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner, a detail Nolan subtly dropped in a December interview with IGN. These are the folks who really nailed the Fallout vibe, so their continued involvement is definitely a good sign.
But wait, there's more! Apparently, Frederick E.O. Toye is also slated to rejoin the creative team, and frankly, that's fantastic news. Toye directed multiple episodes of the series, and his previous work on shows like "Shogun" and "Westworld" proves he knows how to craft compelling, visually stunning television. Having him back to direct more Season 3 episodes? Consider me hyped.
Of course, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Season 2 is still unfolding! We're currently four episodes in, and from what I hear, the latest installment is a real treat for hardcore fans, paying homage to one of the franchise's most beloved DLCs. The season finale is scheduled to drop on February 4th, so we still have plenty of wasteland adventures to enjoy in the meantime.
While this updated shooting schedule is definitely promising, let's keep in mind that a firm release date for Fallout Season 3 is still shrouded in mystery. Nolan, bless his heart, has expressed his desire for a quick turnaround, and this potential early start date certainly supports that goal. Fingers crossed we won't have to wait too long to see what's next for Lucy, Maximus, and the Ghoul. I'll be keeping my ear to the ground (and my V.A.T.S. aimed at the horizon) for more updates!
