Turkey Auto Market SHOCK! What Will Happen Next?!
Breaking down the numbers, passenger car sales experienced a 10.62% increase, totaling 1,084,496 units. Light commercial vehicle sales also saw a substantial rise, climbing by 9.97% to reach 283,904 units. Even December 2025 showed strong performance, with a 12.55% increase compared to December of the previous year, resulting in 191,620 vehicles sold. Passenger car sales in December were up 8.54%, while light commercial vehicle sales jumped a whopping 27.83%!
Interestingly, it seems Turkish consumers have a clear preference for certain vehicle types. A staggering 61.9% of all passenger cars sold were SUVs. That's right, the Sport Utility Vehicle reigns supreme in Türkiye! Furthermore, vehicles in the A, B, and C segments, which typically benefit from lower tax rates, accounted for 82.7% of the market. The C segment alone held the largest share, commanding 55.3% of the total market. This suggests that value and practicality are key considerations for many Turkish car buyers.
When it comes to what's under the hood, gasoline-powered cars remain the most popular choice, grabbing a 47.0% market share. However, the rise of alternative powertrains is undeniable. Hybrid vehicles claimed a significant 27.2% share, and electric vehicles (EVs) are steadily gaining traction, now holding 17.7% of the market. This indicates a growing awareness and acceptance of greener transportation options within the country. It's exciting to see how these numbers evolve over the next few years as infrastructure improves and new EV models become available. Could Türkiye become a major player in the EV market? Only time will tell, but the current trend is certainly promising. The increase highlights that there is an appetite for change.
