Britpop Authority: Old dogs in Malaga Province who definitely have a new trick or two
Britpop Legends REUNITE! You Won't Believe Where T...
After a solid eight years rocking the Costa del Sol, the band New Tricks is shaking things up. They've just announced the launch of a brand-new project: The Britpop Authority. And let me tell you, this isn't just another covers band jumping on a trend. This is a full-blown, high-energy tribute to the glorious sounds of 90s Britpop.
Now, New Tricks isn't exactly new on the scene. They've built a reputation as one of the area's most reliable and energetic cover bands. I've seen them pack dance floors from Estepona to Nerja, cranking out classic rock and pop anthems with impressive skill. What sets them apart is their tight musicianship and that indefinable "it" factor that gets people moving. And frankly, that kind of experience is invaluable when launching a new project.
The BritPop Authority isn't just rehashing old tunes; they're celebrating an era. Think Pulp, Ocean Colour Scene, Cast, Primal Scream... and, of course, the titans themselves, Blur and Oasis. But they're also giving a nod to the bands that paved the way, like The Jam and The Clash. It’s a respectful and energetic homage to a sound that defined a generation. It just goes t oshow, the old dogs can be taught, after all.
What's really interesting is that this new venture doesn't mean the end of New Tricks. They're well-known for their wide range of covers, from The Rolling Stones to Robbie Williams. So, The BritPop Authority will run alongside New Tricks, catering to tribute nights, festivals, weddings, and those special events where you just need a good dose of 90s nostalgia. It’s a smart move, really. They're essentially doubling their potential audience.
I'm personally looking forward to seeing what they do with this. Britpop was such a vibrant and influential movement, and it'll be great to see a band with New Tricks' experience bring that energy back to life here on the coast. I reckon it's going to be a popular addition to the local music scene. After all, who doesn't love a bit of Blur on a warm Spanish evening?
